A customer using MYOB Exo Business recently asked me how to correct the balance of a creditor, that was a few cents out from the sum of the outstanding transactions. Fortunately, Exo's admin tools make this really easy - and the same applies for Debtors. We made this short video to show you how to do it.

Hello MYOB Exo Business Admins! Leverage your "default branch" and "default location" user and computer profile settings to automatically filter the information in Clarity reports down to the relevant branch or location. This is a lot easier to maintain than having separate sets of reports and menus for each branch. It takes just a little extra snippet of code to be added to the reports that you need to filter.

Hello MYOB Exo Business users! How well does your general ledger match your stock valuation report each month?
There can be a number of causes of variances between the two. Most of these can be solved with correct configuration, combined with utilisation of best practices, but the other biggie is the accuracy of your standard stock valuation report, especially when running it for prior months.
This chart depicts a real-life customer experience over 28 months (with not a single GL adjustment journal in that time) after implementing our custom stock valuation report. Spot the variances? You might need a magnifying glass!
Our reporting gives you accurate historic average costs for now or any prior period, adjusted for any back-dated transactions entered since month end, with quantities broken down by batch number.

We have reports of people receiving scam Covid19 refund SMS messages claiming to be from the IRD.
IRD will never correspond with you via text message. You may receive emails from IRD, but such email will only notify you that you have new correspondence waiting for you in the MyIR secure portal. All other correspondence from IRD is by postal mail.

Should your cloud ERP (or other SaaS application) configuration and/or customisation costs be capitalised or expensed? A recent agenda decision by the IFRS Interpretation Committee provides guidance on how IAS 38 should be interpreted in relation to SaaS implementations, and may impact on how you are currently recognising these costs.

The April 2021 Agenda Decision considered two key questions:
(a) Whether, applying IAS 38 Intangible Assets, the customer recognises an intangible asset in relation to configuration or customisation of the application software; and
(b) If an intangible asset is not recognised, how the customer accounts for the configuration or customisation costs.

If you're unsure of the of the correct treatment, please consult your accountant.

You'll be aware that the budget is due to be announced in mid-May. This year, probably like no other, it will need to play a greater role in supporting businesses to get through this crisis in good shape.

Ordinarily at this time, the Wellington Chamber of Commerce hold a live event with the Finance Minister to speak to their members. This year, due to level three restrictions, the address will be streamed live at 12pm on Thursday 7th May, giving anyone the opportunity to attend. There will be a question & answer session at the end of the address.
