We're proud to share that Esolar — Solar Electric Technology Limited — has been entered into the 2026 David Awards in Nelson, and we're in the running for the People's Choice category.

For 16 years, Esolar has been designing and installing solar energy systems across the top of the South Island — from residential and rural properties to commercial buildings and community infrastructure. We're a locally owned, family-run business based in Appleby, Nelson, with a team of eight and over 4,000 installations to our name.

🏆 What an honour -- Esolar has been named New Zealand Partner of the Year at the REC ANZ Excellence Awards 2025!

Every time we receive this recognition, Lance and I are reminded of just how much goes into what we do — and how little of it would be possible without our incredible team.

To our crew — thank you. You turn up every single day, you do the hard work in the heat and the rain, you take pride in every job, and you are the reason we can hold an award like this with confidence. We are so proud of each and every one of you.

New Zealand has officially passed the solar tipping point.

Researchers say most Kiwi households buying solar today will save more than they spend - and that now includes battery storage too. Around $1,000 a year net, on current figures.

From 20,000 solar customers around New Zealand in 2018 to nearly 84,000 today. The momentum is real - and it stacks up financially everywhere from Nelson to Dunedin.

We’ve been saying this for years. It’s nice when the numbers catch up.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share practical knowledge around energy costs, resilience, and what solar can deliver in the real world.

An evening full of useful insights and great conversations with the Solar Electric Technology Ltd (eSolar) team ☀️

From the advantages of adopting solar early, to smart inverters, grid supply, and return on investment, Lance from eSolar, alongside James from Taspac and Patrick from Fronius Solar & Energy, provided a practical and informative overview of the industry and the key considerations for those exploring solar.

While many of us are familiar with solar power, it was great to see so many attendees come away with new insights - and a few new connections as well! With the current price of fuel and recent weather events in memory, it was a timely discussion about energy resilience and renewable solutions.
