Community. Innovation. Heart.

Today on The MOST FM The Business Hour, we sat down with Jamie Allen from Taranaki Retreat. Jamie shared the vision behind their new initiative Āwhina and a powerful call to action for this weekend’s Launchathon.

👇 This is grassroots impact in motion. Get involved Taranaki

✨ Want to be part of something powerful this weekend?

On the Business Hour this morning on The MOST FM Adam Harris and Frank and Fearless - Naomi Woodier-Harris interviewed Jamie Allen to promote what's happening this weekend in Taranaki.

Our friends Taranaki Retreat have created a tool called Āwhina—a beautiful, purpose-built platform to help organisations support people through tough times.

It was made right here in Taranaki. And now they need help to take it to the world.

This weekend, they’re hosting a Launchathon, and they’re looking for:
🧠 Strategic thinkers
🎨 Creatives + marketers
💬 Connectors + funders
💛 People who care about others and want to make a difference

📍 Energy Works, Bell Block
🗓 Sat 9 + Sun 10 August | 10am–3pm
🍽 Lunch provided | Pop in or stay all day

We will be helping facilitate and support the brainstorming.
This is your chance to do some real good—with real people, in real time.

This one stayed with me.

Justine’s story reminded me how much leadership is about presence, not just position.
Her reflections on calmness, community, and being willing to “build it if it’s not there” landed deeply.
If you missed this episode of The Business Hour, I hope you’ll take a moment to tune in.

👇 Highlights below.

What a show today on The MOST FM...I had the privilege of interviewing Lou Heller Stylist on the Business Hour.

My Key takeaways from today's show is;

-Your wardrobe tells a story — are you the one writing it? Lou teaches people to define their three personal style words as a tool for self-expression and clarity, much like a brand defines its values.

-Purpose-driven businesses scale through service. Lou’s brand evolved by focusing not just on fashion, but on emotional empowerment and sustainability. She’s proof that being real is a strategic asset.

-Conscious consumption is good business. From wardrobe audits to ethical buying habits, Lou is educating consumers — and businesses — to align their purchases with who they are and what they stand for.

-Brand = Experience + Emotion. Whether on stage or in someone’s closet, Lou’s brand thrives because she makes people feel something. It’s a reminder for all business owners: how people feel after an interaction is what they remember.

This week on The Business Hour ON The MOST FM, Frank and Fearless - Naomi Woodier-Harris and Tom Schurr sat down with the energetic, insightful, and wonderfully real Lou Heller Stylist— fashion stylist, style educator, and keynote speaker.

Born in Taranaki and now based in Christchurch, Lou shared her bold journey from hay bales and daydreams to building a business and personal brand that inspires confidence, connection, and conscious choices.

We covered everything from:
💥 Finding your three style words
👠 Why clothing is emotional, not superficial
🧠 The psychology of how we dress
🛍️ Ethical fashion and shopping with intention
📈 Growing a values-based business
🗣️ Storytelling as a business tool
🧩 And the real power of dressing as your true self — not for others.

Lou’s blend of therapy, fashion, and firecracker fun makes her voice one not to miss.

Another Great show! I learn so much from our guests. This particular guest took me back to the days that I had my own little science kit and remembering the excitement and curiosity of designing experiments!

What does it take to ignite innovation in Taranaki?

On this week’s Business Hour The MOST FM Frank and Fearless - Naomi Woodier-Harris sat down with science hype-man Tom Adams, Innovation Lead at Venture Taranaki, to unpack the bold vision behind the Taranaki Applied Innovation Centre.

🎙️ From his childhood roots and passion for zoology and theatre, to leading a regional science and innovation movement, Tom brings storytelling and strategy together like no one else.

🔥 Highlights from the show:

The need for a science and innovation hub in Taranaki

Why communication is as critical as research in science

Connecting schools, startups, and retirees to build a vibrant STEM culture

Real-life examples of local ingenuity, from penguin tracking tech to nano bubble farming

How we can upskill youth and prepare for jobs that don’t exist yet

The role of curiosity, collaboration, and community in shaping Taranaki’s future

Some things are scary when they are new, and this today felt like one of those things! Having only co-hosted The Most FM Business Hour show, I hadn't yet controlled all of the buttons myself, so really glad that despite the uncertainty today, I continued to show up for myself and face the things that scare me.

Really enjoyed chatting with Angela Matthews all about Financial health today, which I particularly love talking about. Having walked a path of sorting out all of my affairs early on when I had Cancer, sorting everything out, it brings me relief knowing that although this was a really BIG task, it was so worth sorting out, 10 years on, enjoy privately investing myself in Crypto and Shares.

I subtle reminder today, is to cease the moment and to tackle the things that are hard!

Today Frank and Fearless - Naomi Woodier-Harris hosted the Business Hour Radio show at The MOST FM with Tom and Adam away. Today's guest was Angela Matthews, a financial advisor who is just about to run a series of FREE workshops called Wealth Being. Her passion is in Financial education, inspiring and empowering people to take care of their financial planning for their retirement.

With all the jargon in this space, it was great to hear of the more personable approach Angela takes in supporting the community.

Great opportunity to learn more about members of our community doing great work!

So grateful to be part of The MOST FM Business Hour with Tom Schurr today!

Looking forward to many more to come, as I Frank and Fearless - Naomi Woodier-Harris share that I am now the co-host with Tom and Adam!

Thank you to Catherine and her business partner Amanda from Vivian Pharmacy for coming in today to share your story of 30+ years in business! Thank you for inspiring us with your proactive succession planning that you are strategically working towards, truly inspiring!

As an integral part of the local community, I learnt that Vivian Pharmacy has not only invested deeply in social good and community wellbeing, but also embraced innovation—introducing robotic technology to support their team and streamline medication packing...I could have kept going with our conversation for sure!

So great to connect with other people in business, hearing their stories and sharing in their successes!

What a great way to spend my morning with such cool people!

So grateful to my sisters 💜💜 You allow me to be me! You hold space, you listen curiously and remind me of who I am. The gift of being with “self” around others has been the most profound gift I’ve taken away from the beautiful opportunities to sit with Man Kind Project Men and women this weekend gone 🫶🏻 The opportunity to be away from work enables me just to BE…to be with my feelings, to be with my emotions and to be with my body and explore all my responses and the opportunities for further inner personal work. What opportunities do you give yourself to explore your deeper truths?

Similar to Masks, I love this thought provoking poem around costumes.

Deep gratitude for time away out of our business, indulging in art, intellectually stimulating conversation and making sense of the world this weekend.

This poem makes me wonder what costumes I put on for various aspects in business and how that serves me and others…and how I might reframe that!

What’s come up for you reading this? Art gifts us opportunities to reflect back into our lives, our businesses and relationships, to contemplate, to learn something new about ourselves! What have you witnessed came up for you reading this?!
