This pivotal report by IBM, compiled from a survey of over 1,800 industry executives across 23 countries, uncovers a significant shift in the consumer industry. Organizations are integrating sustainability into their core operations, moving away from treating it as a standalone priority. This strategic alignment is essential for achieving a quadruple bottom line: people, planet, profit, and purpose 🌍💼.

Key Findings:

🌐 Sustainability and operations are no longer separate entities. Instead, 3 out of 5 leaders are aligning these areas to optimize both investments and efforts.
🔄 An estimated 80% of a product’s environmental impact stems from design decisions, highlighting the importance of sustainable product design.
💡 Almost 75% of leaders recognize the need to recalibrate how they measure and report on sustainability, with technology playing a crucial role in this transformation.
🌱 48% of respondents are focused on redesigning their supply chain for sustainability, with a shift towards nearshoring and localization.
📈 More than half (54%) are using data-sharing cloud-based platforms to strengthen supply chain partnerships and track environmental targets.
The report emphasizes the necessity of embedding sustainability strategy into business operations and utilizing technology and ecosystem partnerships to achieve this goal.
