When was the last time YOUR computer/laptop had a clean out ? Remember that they all have fans, which draw air & dust in just like a vacuum cleaner. The dust settles on the electronic components, building up a thermal blanket, the heat can no longer dissipate, and next thing you know... fried. Dead meat. No coming back. Get the cheque book out ( yes, I know ) And if you're really unlucky lose all your data as well :-( Much easier and cheaper to arrange for a timely clean out. Should be done annually I recommend. Anyway, you know where I am, let me give your computer some love !

When the going gets tough... :-)

A serious test of my micro surgery skills today... mission successful and another delighted Data Recovery customer achieved :-)

This is what a USB flash drive looks like on the inside. If you leave it plugged in to your laptop and your laptop goes for a wee flight in the car (sudden braking manouevre) then the pluggy inny bit will indeed snap off complete with circuit tracks and all rendering the flash drive seriously deceased.

Lesson... don't leave flash drives plugged into laptops when moving the laptop !!

YES ! We are still operating whilst in lockdown !! But of course we can't visit you. We can however still do telephone support, remote access support, and If you're able to drop off to us we can carry out physical repairs & data recoveries still.

Here's a new spin on the age old "click on me" enticing email, which I received today. Clearly designed to take advantage of the easily intimidated / faint hearted types. Complete with two lovely juicy attachments just literally demanding to be opened....

Stay careful out there people, the bad guys bags of tricks is never empty !

Did Cambridge Analytica get you ?

By now you’ve probably heard of Cambridge Analytica (CA), the controversial company that harvested data from Facebook and then used it in ways that you almost certainly wouldn’t have wanted.

Here's the thing though... If one of your friends installed their rogue app, then they might have shared with CA various information that you’d shared with them, even if you didn’t install the app yourself.

Facebook accounts can easily be cloned. Your picture and your name are used to create a new face book account (they don't need your password to do this). They then try to get your current FB friends to add them to their Facebook account. Your friends will think that it's you and accept your request. From that point on they can write what they want under your name. Please NEVER accept a 2nd friend request from anyone. Always check with them first. Chris@Xympl Limited
