We are also excited to share that Rammed Earth House, located on the coast of Taranaki, received an award at the Western Branch Awards 🎉

A special thank you to our clients and Jeff Fairweather for your trust, collaboration and commitment throughout the journey. It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside you all and we’re excited to celebrate this recognition together.

Citation: “As spare and elemental as a crofter’s cottage, this home is framed by shaped earth on arrival and opens to views of beach, surf, and sea. It balances sensitive occupation with a sense of the “other.” Its simple form conceals precision and complexity. Carefully made, it invites slow movement, revealing texture and detail over time. The palette is minimal yet rich, with floor, kitchen, and bed integrated to ground the space. Solid walls and a light roof create contrast, suggesting a building that may weather into a future ruin.”

We are excited to share that we received an award alongside our design partners for Stadium Taranaki’s East Stand in this year’s Western Branch Awards 🎉

This recognition reflects the collective effort of many who contributed their time, expertise and whakaaro throughout the journey. We would like to acknowledge Ngāti Te Whiti hapū, the clients, consultants and contractors who helped bring this project to fruition. We are grateful to celebrate this achievement alongside you all!

A special mention to mana whenua digital artist Kerehama Waru Te Pū for the identity and cultural design of the building and landscape. Ngāti Te Whiti representatives and Kerehama are foundational to the success of this project. Their contributions to the design process provided depth, whakapapa, and meaning to the essential components of the building.

Citation: “A large replacement stand that builds on its predecessor. Clear circulation allows efficient movement. Support spaces are discreet and well planned. The upper level is flexible, accommodating events of different sizes. A membrane canopy provides soft light and improves acoustics for spectators. The design also allows for a future connection with the practice field.”

Alongside our design partners we are pleased to share that Stadium Taranaki’s East Stand has been shortlisted in this year’s Western Branch Awards! 🙌

A brand-new eastern grandstand known as the TSB Stand replaces the existing that was deemed earthquake prone. Our team worked closely with Ngāti te Whiti and Graphic Artist Kerehama Waru Te Pū on the identity and cultural design elements for the building and landscape.

The Rammed Earth House in Coastal Taranaki has been shortlisted for this year’s Western Architecture Awards 🙌!

Created in collaboration with Jeff Faiweather , this home features softly textured rammed earth. This material choice is both durable and low-waste, fulfilling two key necessities of the client’s brief for this simple, clever design.

*Construction progress update from Dawson House*

This project involves a new build and redevelopment of the building on the adjacent site to create a roof top garden with views across Ngāmotu. An epic bespoke staircase creates a statement entry to this home.

Our team got together and learnt about the design details and construction method that has bought this project to reality! This one is very special - We can’t wait to share more soon.

The team are onto the home stretch for one of the largest construction projects Taranaki has seen. Landscape design elements are being constructed to provide access and connection to the buildings immediate surrounds. These include covered walkways, bike stands, a bus shelter, drop-off zone, and vehicle and pedestrian access. This has been an exciting project for us and our design partners Warren and Mahoney and we are looking forward to it being operational very soon.

Great shots from the official community open day at Matamata Open Country Stadium on the weekend. This is what it's all about - seeing the community come together in a place where friendships will be made, health and wellbeing enhanced and sports skills perfected.

This is a project we are incredibly proud to have been involved with alongside our partners Foster Group Limited, it's one we know will have big impact on many generations to come.
