Last week we had a large leak at Queens Flat.

A big shout out to all the teams at NOIC, SSG, and Palmers for the massive effort to have the pipelines up and running within the week.

Thanks to all the affected shareholders for your patience and understanding.

You will see from the photos that this was not a small job. The disruption was large scale and the repair major.

Environmentally there was no effect on the water running into the Waiareka Creek from the leak site. Water was monitored before, during and after the leak repairs.

So to all concerned thank you for the mammoth effort.

SEPTEMBER WATER SUPPLY CHARGE
The NOIC variable supply charge for September is $0.10+GST per m3 of irrigation water used. This matches the previous low for September set in 2009. September’s irrigation use across the scheme was the highest since 2015. Use for the month matched exactly the long-term average, even though there’s still snow on the Kakanui's.

What will NOIC supply charges be over the 2019-20 season?

The following graph shows estimated Supply Charges per m3 of irrigation water used for the coming season.
We are aiming to deliver charges among the lowest in the company’s history.
Supply charges will be $0.09-0.15c per m3 when demand is low (typically when little irrigation is needed).
In peak demand months, we expect charges to be $0.06-0.07 per m3.

NOIC OPERATIONS UPDATE
Winter maintenance has progressed well and even though a few tasks are still being completed, the scheme is ready for irrigation. Last week the team started de-winterising offtakes.

Helpful Hints for the coming irrigation season:
• Check infrastructure before starting up for the season, particularly pivot gear boxes (moisture), electrical terminals (tightness) and valve condition (gaskets, on/off working and position).
• Confirm system performance, particularly application rates (bucket test)
• Assess soil moisture requirements before irrigating
Remember that much of your on-farm infrastructure will have drained over the winter months so please fill your pipelines and irrigators SLOWLY.

Great effort by everyone involved. Well done.
