Welcome to Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week!

This is an annual celebration for all New Zealanders to show their tautoko (support) for the Māori language, an official language of this country. The theme for Te Wiki 2024 is ‘Ake ake ake – A Forever Language’, acknowledging the dedication of New Zealanders to learn and treasure Te Reo Māori for generations to come.

Whether you’re coming to Aotearoa New Zealand for mahi (work), to live or a holiday, we thought we’d share a few common phrases you might encounter on your travels around the motu (country):

• Kia ora: Hello (informal); Cheers; Good health; Thank you.
• Haere Mai / Nau Mai: Welcome
• Kei te pēhea koe? – How are you?
• Kei te pai – I am well

🌏✈️ New Zealand Transit Visas are going digital! 📱💻

Are you planning to transit through New Zealand on your next journey?

From 12 August, 2024, you can apply for your Transit Visa online via our Enhanced Immigration Online system for a streamlined experience.

If you’re coming from Fiji, from 4 September 2024, Fijian nationals can apply for a Transit NZeTA instead of a transit visa.

Is the IELTS test easier with the British Council or IDP? 🤔📝

The answer is … they’re both the same! The content of the IELTS test is standardised to ensure the test is fair and consistent, regardless of who you take it with.
