Giving Architects Driving positive change for people and planet

“Research is the one thing that stands between a loved one and a cure 💜”

Powerful words from Dr Michelle Sullivan, General Manager of Cancer Research Trust NZ, and a reminder of why this work matters so deeply.

It has been a privilege for Giving Architects to walk alongside Cancer Research Trust New Zealand as they began building their fundraising programme from the ground up. Our work together was focused on shaping the foundations of a sustainable fundraising approach, helping the Trust grow its capacity and capability to fund life-changing cancer research for years to come.

CRTNZ is close to our hearts in many ways. Seeing the organisation go from strength to strength, with growing clarity, confidence and momentum behind its fundraising, is exactly the kind of meaningful work that fuels our passion for what we do at Giving Architects.

Thank you, Michelle, for sharing your experience and for trusting us to support such meaningful work. We are proud to have played a part in helping strengthen the fundraising foundations behind a mission that brings hope to so many 💫

Capital campaigns can feel daunting for lean teams but success is not only about the number of people in the fundraising office. It is about how well the organisation aligns around the campaign.

When leadership, board, staff, and external support are working from the same strategy, even smaller teams can build momentum with confidence 🚀

A strong project matters. But in a capital campaign, the project alone is rarely enough.

Major donors are often looking for more than a compelling idea. They want confidence in the organisation, clarity around the impact, trust in the leadership, and a sense that their gift will help make something meaningful possible.

A strong project may open the door.
A strong case, trusted relationships, and clear leadership help secure transformational support.

What if the biggest impact of AI in fundraising… isn’t what you think ? 🤔

It’s not about replacing people. It’s about removing the weight that’s been holding them back 🚀

The organisations leaning into this shift aren’t just becoming more efficient; they’re starting to see what’s been out of reach all along.

This is where fundraising starts to change.

Follow the link below to know more on how AI is changing the way fundraising teams work: 🔗 https://www.givingarchitects.com/ai-in-fundraising-fundraisers-arent-being-replaced-theyre-being-unlocked/

If this feels like the kind of shift that could take your organisation to the next level and amplify your impact, let's have a chat. We’d love to have a conversation about how AI-powered tools can create new opportunities for your organisation.

Who actually owns the donor relationship in your organisation❔

The fundraiser?
The CEO?
A board member?
or All of them?

High-value giving programmes often struggle not because of strategy, but because of unclear roles. When responsibilities are blurred, opportunities stall.

When roles are clear, donor relationships move forward with confidence and momentum.

In our latest article, we explore why role clarity is the foundation of sustainable high value giving, and how organisations of every size, from small teams to large institutions, can structure this well.

If you are serious about strengthening your high value fundraising programme, this is worth the read.

Wrapping up 2025 with the Giving Architects whānau 💚

As the year winds down, we gathered with full hearts and deep gratitude to celebrate everything 2025 has brought us. The wins, the lessons, the impact, and above all, the people who made it all matter.

To our amazing clients, partners, and collaborators - thank you! It is a true privilege to walk alongside you. Every conversation, every idea, every challenge we tackled together this year has helped shape something bigger, more generosity, more purpose, more lasting change.

We are also so thankful for our team. A bunch of kind, dedicated, clever humans who lift each other up, dig in when it counts, and never stop striving to give their very best. They are the heart of Giving Architects. And behind them are the families and loved ones who cheer us on, keep us grounded, and quietly make it possible for us to do this work, we see you and we are so grateful.

This season reminds us why we do what we do. Because at the centre of every campaign, every act of giving, and every bold idea are people. People who care, who give, who hope.

From our hearts to yours, we wish you a holiday season full of rest, love, laughter and light and a fresh, energised start to 2026. We are so looking forward to continuing the journey with you.

Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete — Happy holidays from all of us at Giving Architects 🎄✨

Trailblazing in AI 🚀 Congratulations, Ross!

We are proud to celebrate our very own Ross Imbler, MA, CFRE for his achievement in scoring 8 out of 10+ on the AI CRED assessment placing him in the top tier of AI practitioners worldwide.

AI CRED is a new, adaptive evaluation tool designed to measure applied AI fluency. Unlike a typical certification, AI CRED is a live, practical evaluation that tests real-world fluency across prompting, application, technical understanding, critical thinking, and workflow design.

Scoring in the advanced band signals Ross’ capability not just to use AI, but to lead its adoption in complex, strategic environments. This is a remarkable validation of his expertise and we are proud to have him leading the way as we help the fundraising sector harness the true potential of AI.
