Wishing you all a very Happy New Year. Thank you for again for all your support this past year. As I reflect on the year past, I have added some fantastic new adventures to my story and make special mention to HeliA1 Alex and Davin for the opportunity to work on the UNESCO Gough Island project. It was a wonderful experience and an opportunity to make some new friends along the way. Who knows what will be in store for Ann and I this year! (Grand babies)

Meet Greenie - a Bunting bird from the Gough Island Restoration programme.

Proud to have a namesake from the expedition.

He’s mighty pretty and has a very shiny coat.

Satisfying to see the fruits of our labour !

HOME SWEET HOME – The S.A. Agulhas II has arrived back in Cape Town, marking the end of a milestone chapter in the Gough Island Restoration! An enormous thank you to the captain & crew of the for getting our fantastic baiting and support team, helicopters and equipment, safely into port 🚢

It has been truly intense and exceptional two months and for some of the team members the journey is not over yet as they continue their way home into their respective corners of the world. Safe travels everyone back to a life on the veg 🥑🥦🥬🥒🌽🥕🥔🍠 and a much-deserved rest!

And just like that they are on their way home. A few weeks isolation will still mean another month before stepping out to the new normal. Incredible project and looking forward to hearing all the stories.

Well done guys. Davin Mudford @ Paul Greene.

BREAKING NEWS! 🚁🌤The second bait application on Gough Island is complete! The team finally got a decent enough break in the weather and managed to finish the second application yesterday 😊 Whilst the completion of the second drop is significant and means we now have a reasonable chance of the mouse eradication operation being a success, a supplementary application had always been planned over 'high-risk' areas - to ensure we did absolutely everything within our power to eradicate the mice. The great news is that with two consecutive good days for baiting, most of this supplementary baiting has also been completed! Go Team Gough! 🙌👏

A great big shout out to Ovenstone Agency (Pty) Ltd for their recent diversion to Gough Island with their vessel M.F.V. Edinburgh to deliver a replacement helicopter part. 👏
This means we now have all four helicopters ready to distribute bait (just waiting for those better weather windows). All our calculations were made on the basis of having three choppers in operation with the fourth machine as a ‘flying set of spares’ – to be operational if possible but not a deal-breaker if parts were needed for repairs in another machine. Thank you, Ovenstone! 🤝
