Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust” is the post-settlement governance entity for Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara. Its beneficiaries are those who descend from the ancestor Haumoewaarangi and affiliate to one of Ngā Marae e Rima: ko Puatahi, ko Haranui, ko Araparera, ko Kākānui, ko Reweti rānei.
Those who are registered are beneficiaries of Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust “the Trust”.
The Trust is responsible for managing our assets including 22.1 million dollars and the land which made up the settlement that our tūpuna fought hard for. The Trust is also responsible for ensuring the cultural, environmental, commercial, and social development of Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara is beneficial to us all as hapū members.
There are nine elected Trustees of Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust, including five Marae representatives and three independent representatives.
The current elected Trustees of Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust are:
· Dame Naida Glavish – Trustee, Puatahi Marae Representative
· Debra Brewer – Trustee, Kākānui Marae Representative
· Tracy Davis – Trustee, Reweti Marae Representative
· Trisya Hemana - Povey – Trustee, Haranui Marae Representative
· Margaret Tukerangi – Trustee, Araparera Marae Representative
· Haahi Walker – Trustee, Kaumātua Representative
· Jane Sherard – Trustee
· Tamaki Mercer - Trustee
· Cherie Povey – Trustee
In accordance with clause 24 of the Trust Deed, a Special General Meeting as been called on the 30th September 2023, 10am at Waimauku War Memorial Hall, 24 Waimauku Station Road, Waimauku.
Voting packs were issued on the 21st August or alternatively you can vote through the Ballot Box on the day at the Special General Meeting.
