ABOUT: OWNER of Kāpiti Business Projects: HELENE JUDGE

Helene has 35+ years of professional experience working in corporate and small business environments. She is well known in business circles in Kāpiti -Horowhenua from her past role as the Business Development Manager at Nature Coast Enterprise. Her last significant corporate role in Wellington was as the Director Professional Development at the Institute of Chartered Accountants. This involved extensive change management and developing a business training model that ran at a national level and contributed significant turnover to the Institute’s budget. Helene is well connected, acts with integrity and is highly organised, motivated and positive. She will lead with purpose and action and loves bringing a team together to help others to make things happen and do things smarter. She is often asked for her opinion, referrals and to be part of local initiatives that are inspired around the growth and development of Kāpiti from a business and community perspective. She is a proud member of the Kāpiti community and likes to be involved with community-based events, like The Web Genius Kāpiti Run for Youth. Helene has been involved with Visa Wellington on a Plate since the beginning in 2010 and has run unique foodie events that showcase the Kāpiti food and beverage industry. Helene helped to establish the Kāpiti Women in Business group in 2010 and was part of the planning group run under the umbrella of the Kāpiti Chamber until 2020. She is a past Board Member of Kāpiti Retirement Trust – one of Kāpiti's largest employers with a charitable purpose. Helene is also Co-owner of the Kāpiti Food Fair that was established in 2008 from humble beginnings, only to become the major community event it is known for in the Wellington Region today. Now privately owned and operated by Helene Judge and Jeanine van Kradenburg, their mission is to bring visitors into Kāpiti for an immersive experience on the Kāpiti Coast – all while having a fun, tasty day out with GOOD friends, GOOD times and GOOD food! Their vision is to make a lasting impression in the mind and bodies of all foodies >> https://kapitifoodfair.co.nz

After nearly a decade of inspiring, connecting, & engaging the local business community, the time has come to close the door on Electra Business Breakfast as an independent professional network.

Since 2016, Kāpiti Business Projects has proudly planned & delivered 104 events at Southward Car Museum with the support of Electra as lead sponsor. Over this time, the programme welcomed 9,153 registrations, averaging over 1,000 attendees annually, & achieved an impressive Net Promoter Score of 61, reflecting the value & impact of the events.

Electra’s sponsorship played a vital role in keeping the programme accessible & Southward's also generously supported us with their venue, helping us deliver consistently high-quality experiences for attendees & speakers.

However, in Mar 2025, the venue advised they could no longer accommodate our regular booking beyond 30 Sept due to internal operational constraints, & new terms that were not viable for the programme’s continuation. Shortly thereafter, Electra shared their decision to step back as lead sponsor, effective 30 Sept, aligning with the venue.

Without significant sponsorship or a suitable alternate venue, Kāpiti Business Projects has made the difficult decision to wind up & exit the business breakfast in its current form. While this marks the end of an era, we remain open to transferring the programme’s intellectual property to others working in local economic development, potentially paving the way for a new chapter, perhaps under the banner of “Kāpiti Business Breakfast.”

On behalf of the team & our suppliers, it has been a privilege to plan & deliver Electra Business Breakfast since 2016. We thank everyone who has been part of the journey, & welcome enquiries from those interested in continuing the legacy.

As we close the chapter on this event, its digital profile will remain publicly accessible for a while longer. This is a gesture of appreciation for our long-standing sponsor, Electra, whose generous support & commitment over the years played a vital role in shaping the success of the programme. We’re proud to acknowledge their contribution as part of the event’s legacy & the impact we have made together.
