As someone passionate about systems, efficiency, and helping businesses work smarter, I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how chambers across New Zealand are embracing practical AI tools and innovation in real time.

Rather late than never…

In March, Aimee and I were lucky enough to attend the International Women’s Day lunch sponsored by Wakefields Lawyers, thanks to Women in Business and the Kāpiti Business Chamber

The past 10 days have been… relentless.

We’ve had a suspect broken scaphoid, two suspect measles cases in the house (which turned out to be Covid — apparently it can even mimic Koplik spots and a rash on the face 🤷‍♀️).

We’ve had business awards season — where we’ve once again proven we’re consistently strong finalists, but haven’t quite cracked the winning code.

And we’ve had training setbacks ahead of the Kāpiti Half next weekend — because of course, life always likes to test endurance in more ways than one.

All of that has led to one clear conclusion:
It’s time to pause, reflect, and realign.

At BOSS, and for me personally, the next phase isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing what matters. It’s about working smarter, protecting energy, and building from a place of sustainability rather than speed.

So as we close out October and move toward a new season, our focus shifts from relentless pace to refined direction.

From chasing every opportunity, to choosing the right ones.

From carrying it all, to building with balance.

Sometimes leadership means recognising when to reset.

When to simplify.

When to breathe before the next climb.

Walking away with no wins this awards season doesn’t mean we’ve lost — it means we are on the edge of something great.

And sometimes the best strategy… is to stop, listen, and rebuild the next win from wisdom.
