This one ain't glamourous, but at Steel It Limited this is our rubbish bin. Literally. That's it. And it only goes out every second week.

The hard work that goes into designing each job means there is almost no waste. At the end of a job we have a couple of offcuts from the end of the coil and a bucket full of scrap from the rollforming process, all of which goes into the recycling bin.

Light Gauge Steel (LGS) framing is gaining momentum across residential and commercial builds for many reasons:

✅ Consistency - computer controlled rollforming machines produce framing with precision. No variation. Same frame, every time.
✅ Speed - frames arrive on site ready to screw straight in place. Your programme reduces = your onsite costs ⬇️
✅ Fire resistance - steel doesn't burn, limiting any potential damage from fire.

Sustainability is something we get asked about a lot, and there are a lot of different ways to answer this.

One of the key advantages of New Zealand Steel's Axxis framing is that it's 100% NZ made. And the new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) at Glenbrook will not only reduce the production emission output by roughly half, but for the first time we will be able to recycle steel on an industrial scale right here in NZ.

This means that as soon as the EAF is online our standard framing be a lower impact product, with less emissions, using recycled steel from right here in NZ. And because of the precision design process there is almost zero waste in the manufacturing process (and it all goes in the recycle bin!)

This 8x8m garage was designed for a family farm and they wanted a structure that was just as dependable as the land it's built on. Using 150mm NZ Steel Axxis framing - we created a strong and durable solution engineered for extreme weather! 👌🛠️

The result? Their builder had never worked with steel framing before, yet the entire frame was stood up and bolted into place in under 3 hours. 👏
