Computers & laptops • Tablets & small devices • Small home appliances (microwaves, vacuums, kettles etc.) • AV equipment & stereos • Digital cameras • Heaters • Mobile phones • Wiring & cabling • Power boards & multiplugs • Servers & switches • Routers & modems • HDDs & USB drives • UPS batteries • Lead-acid & car batteries

Small charge applies to these items:
• LCD monitors - $2
• LCD & Plasma TVs - $20
• Small inkjet/laser printers, scanners & fax machines - $10
• Medium photocopiers & printers - $20
• Large photocopiers - $60

We’re Rising Stars! Last night, Otaihanga Zero Waste was thrilled to receive the Rising Star Award at the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards, held at Te Raukura ki Kāpiti.

But this award isn’t just ours - it belongs to our community.

In just two years, together we’ve diverted more than 420 tonnes of material from landfill. Every piece of timber or metal or appliance dropped off, every item reused, every visit to our ReUse Shop and every person who has chosen to think twice before throwing something away has helped make that happen.

Our GM Ben Wakefield and the OZW team were very proud to accept the award on behalf of everyone who has been part of the journey.

A huge thank you to our Kāpiti community for getting behind us, and to Localised, Sustainability Trust and Kāpiti Coast District Council for their ongoing support.

420 tonnes diverted. Two years. One amazing community!

Future Post 3m lengths now available at Otaihanga Zero Waste - just $80 per post!

is an award-winning New Zealand company that recycles domestic and commercial plastic waste-including milk bottles and soft packaging-into high-performance, sustainable fence posts and rails.

You may have seen them in the news this week as they have been talking about struggles recovering following an arson attack late last year. Buying posts not only helps a great Kiwi company but also reduces waste and keeps plastics out of landfill!

Too Good for Landfill - Don't Let Good Go to Waste!
Many second-hand stores simply aren't able to test and tag electrical items for resale. That means perfectly good appliances can miss out on a second life. That's where we come in.

At Otāihanga Zero Waste, suitable electrical items are:
✅ Tested for safety
✅ Tagged for reuse
✅ Put back into the community at affordable prices

And if an item can't be reused, we'll make sure it's recycled responsibly.
Whether it's a toaster, jug, lamp, radio, speaker, laptop or small appliance, don't send it to landfill until you've checked with us first.
Together, we're keeping valuable resources in use, reducing waste, and helping our community access affordable household items.

Help Us Fill the Shelves! Every item you donate has the potential to become someone else's bargain, helping local families while keeping valuable resources out of landfill.
We're always on the lookout for electrical items and small appliances like:

☕ Jugs

🍲 Slow Cookers
🍟 Air Fryers
🥪 Sandwich Presses
💻 Laptops

If it's suitable for reuse, we'll test and tag it before making it available to the community. If it can't be reused, we'll recycle it responsibly.
