๐Ÿšง Pirongia Bridge Demolition ๐Ÿšง

Following severe flood damage in February 2026, the Pirongia Bridge required urgent removal to restore safety and access for the community.

Once the Bailey bridge was installed, Nikau mobilised immediately, deploying 50T and 20T excavators to take on the challenge.

Ex*****on highlights:
โ€ข Bridge fully removed from a ~4m deep river in just 1 day
โ€ข Total project completed in 3 days
โ€ข Delivered safely and efficiently under tight timeframes

Working alongside Fulton Hogan and Waka Kotahi, Nikau was selected for our high-capability machinery and ability to mobilise fast when it matters most.

This project is a great example of what can be achieved with the right team, the right gear, and a clear plan.

Proud of the crew for another fast, safe, and high-quality delivery.

Massive weekend effort from the Nikau team on the Bremner Bridge demolition in Drury on SH1.

Working under full motorway closure, our demolition crew removed the overbridge in a tightly controlled sequence, with multiple 50t excavators operating in formation to safely bring the structure down, process materials onsite, and clear the carriageway.

The best part? The entire demolition was completed one hour ahead of the scheduled motorway reopening, allowing SH1 to reopen early.

Huge credit to our operators, traffic management, engineers and support crews for delivering a complex, high-risk demolition safely, efficiently and ahead of programme.

๐Ÿš› On the Move ๐Ÿš› ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Another serious bit of kit heading to another site. Our Mack Super-Liner paired with a 3R8 low-loader shifting one of our 50t excavators from New Plymouth โ€” ready for the next stage of works at Grain Corp.

This is what specialist demolition looks like: the right gear, the right people, and the capability to move heavy plant safely and efficiently across the country.

Built for big jobs. Trusted for complex projects.
