Last week, Janet formally accepted her appointment to the Mayorโ€™s advisory council at an official event - and while we may be sharing this a little later, it is still a milestone we are incredibly proud of.

At Global Talent Pathways, this matters because leadership and service do not sit separately from our work. They shape it.

The same values that guide Janet in community leadership spaces โ€” listening, advocacy, cultural understanding, and commitment to people โ€” are the same values that shape how we support students and families through their education journeys.

We are proud to see Janetโ€™s leadership recognised in this way, and proud that Global Talent Pathways is built on that same heart for people, community, and meaningful outcomes.

Congratulations, Janet, on this important milestone.

Yesterday, Janet attended a Race Relations Day 2026 event in Wellington, centred on the theme โ€œWhakarongo kia Mฤrama โ€” Listen to Understand.โ€

At Global Talent Pathways, we believe that better outcomes for students and families do not come from information alone. They also come from understanding people well โ€” their journeys, their cultures, their concerns, and the systems they are trying to navigate.

That is why being in the right rooms matters.

When we place ourselves in spaces where important conversations are happening around diversity, belonging, and community, we strengthen how we serve. We listen better. We understand more deeply. And we stay connected to the wider realities shaping the experiences of the people we support.

For us, this is not just about presence. It is about purpose.

As Global Talent Pathways continues to support students and families exploring New Zealand education pathways, we remain committed to showing up in spaces that sharpen our perspective, deepen our understanding, and help us serve with greater care and integrity.

Because supporting people well starts with listening well.

Immigration New Zealand has announced changes to post-study work visa settings, and while this may look like just another policy update, it carries real meaning for Kenyan students and families planning with intention.

Because the real question is never only,
It is also, ๐˜ž๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ง๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ ๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฉ?

One of the biggest takeaways is that the ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐˜†-๐˜๐—ผ-๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ, with eligible graduates still able to access post-study work rights depending on their qualification. Immigration New Zealand has also announced a new ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐—ง๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—บ ๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฎ that will give eligible graduates extra time to transition into employment, and from late 2026, ๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฎ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น ๐Ÿณ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ผ ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜† ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฟโ€™๐˜€ ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ will also be able to qualify for a Post Study Work Visa.

For Kenyan families, this matters.

Because international education is rarely just about getting into a classroom. It is about what that qualification can open up afterwards in terms of experience, employment, professional growth, and long-term opportunity.

But letโ€™s be honest: announcements like this do not mean people should rush in blindly.

They are a reminder that
Your documentation matters.
Your financial story matters.
Your course choice matters.
And your long-term strategy matters.

At Global Talent Pathways, we believe Kenyan students deserve more than hype. They deserve honest guidance, clear pathways, and decisions made with both ambition and wisdom.

New Zealand is still a country that values skills, contribution, and global talent. And Kenya remains one of the most under-recognised sources of that talent.

This is a quiet update, but for families paying attention, it is an important one.

As we wrap up this 7-day series, one message sits underneath all the others:

This work is bigger than applications.

Behind every international education journey is a much larger story. A family making sacrifices. A student carrying hope. A community investing in possibility. A future being shaped through decisions that carry real emotional, financial, and relational weight.

That is why this work should never be reduced to paperwork alone.

Janetโ€™s article, โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€, is powerful because it does more than present a case for one market. It also reminds us that good international education work requires context, cultural fluency, strategic thinking, and respect for the lived realities people bring into the process.

At Global Talent Pathways, that is the standard we believe in. We are committed to guidance that is informed, ethical, practical, and deeply human.

Thank you for following this series. If you would like to read the original article in full, you can find it on Janetโ€™s LinkedIn under the title โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€

Which part of this series resonated with you most? Weโ€™d love to hear your reflections.

In the middle of our "Why Kenya, Why Now" series, this is the kind of milestone that means a lot to us.

We are not just talking about pathways.
We are boots on the ground, working on the change we want to see, and visa approvals like this are a real sign that progress is happening.

Behind every approval is preparation, persistence, and a student whose future is opening up in a real way.

This one is worth celebrating.
And it tells us we are tracking in the right direction.

Congratulations to our student. We celebrate this win with you.

This conversation is not only relevant for students and families. It also matters for institutions, educators, and decision-makers thinking about the future of international education.

Janetโ€™s article makes the strategic case that Kenya deserves much more serious consideration in New Zealandโ€™s international education planning.
The combination of student capability, English proficiency, academic scale, and untapped relationship potential points to something significant: Kenya is not just a good story. It is a serious opportunity for partnership and long-term growth.

For institutions, that means asking better questions.

**Are we looking broadly enough at where future students may come from?
**Are we relying too heavily on familiar markets?
**Are we taking time to understand the realities of newer or under-engaged markets with the depth they deserve?

At Global Talent Pathways, we believe real progress happens when strategy is informed by both research and lived experience. That is exactly what Janet brings to this conversation in her article.

For those who want the full strategic argument, read โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€ on LinkedIn.

If you work in education, what do you think makes a market worth deeper investment and attention?

It is also about belonging.

Janetโ€™s article highlights something that often gets missed in strategy conversations: students do better where there is cultural resonance, relational understanding, and a stronger sense that who they are will make sense in the environment they are entering.
She draws a thoughtful connection between Kenyaโ€™s collectivist values and New Zealandโ€™s strong relationship-based values, particularly in the way community, care, and shared responsibility are understood.

That matters more than people think.

Students are not just choosing a destination. They are stepping into a whole social world.
Families are not just funding a qualification. They are entrusting a future. And when those cultural and relational dynamics are better understood, the whole education journey becomes more human, more supportive, and more successful.

At Global Talent Pathways, we believe the strongest pathways are built not only on opportunity, but also on understanding.

You can read the full article, โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€, on Janetโ€™s LinkedIn for the bigger picture behind this point.

What role do you think cultural understanding plays in student success abroad?

18/03/2026

One of the most important parts of Janetโ€™s article is this: sometimes the challenge is not financial capacity itself. Sometimes the challenge is how that capacity is understood and documented.

That distinction matters.

Families may genuinely have the means, the commitment, and the support structure to fund international education. But if their financial reality is built through systems that decision-makers do not fully understand, the paperwork may fail to reflect the full story.

Janet points to examples such as SACCOs, M-Pesa, remittances, and community-based financial practices that are real, auditable, and meaningful, but not always interpreted well through narrow expectations.

This is where expert guidance becomes essential.

At Global Talent Pathways, we know international education is not just about forms and applications. It is about helping people present their story clearly, correctly, and in ways that align with requirements while still reflecting reality.

If you want the deeper explanation behind this point, Janetโ€™s full article, โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€, is on LinkedIn.

This is such an important conversation. Have you seen strong applicants misunderstood because of documentation style rather than actual capacity?

17/03/2026

When international education markets are discussed, some student groups are too often framed only in terms of future promise.

But promise is not the full picture.

One of the important points raised in Janetโ€™s article, โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€, is that Kenyan students already bring meaningful strengths to the table. From strong academic pathways to English-language learning environments, there is already a foundation there that deserves to be recognised.

That matters because how students are perceived shapes how opportunities are created, communicated, and supported.

At Global Talent Pathways, we believe good guidance starts with seeing students clearly โ€” not through assumptions, but through context, capability, and understanding.

This carousel is one part of our 7-day series drawing from Janetโ€™s article. If youโ€™d like the fuller perspective, we encourage you to read โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€ on LinkedIn.

15/03/2026

When people think about international education markets, Kenya is not always one of the first countries named.

But that needs to change.

One of the strongest messages in Janetโ€™s article is that Kenya should not be treated as a future possibility sitting on the sidelines. It is already a serious market with academic talent, ambitious students, globally minded families, and a strong foundation for international study. The opportunity is not hypothetical. It is already here.

That is why this conversation matters. Because when institutions, partners, and communities overlook strong student markets simply because they are less familiar, everyone loses. Students miss opportunities. Families miss pathways. And education systems miss valuable relationships they could have been building much earlier.

At Global Talent Pathways, we believe Kenya is not a market to be โ€œdiscoveredโ€ one day. It is a market to be understood properly, respectfully, and strategically now.

For the full thinking behind this, Janetโ€™s full article, โ€œWhy Kenya. Why Now.โ€, is available on LinkedIn.
