Today I had a lovely meeting with Barb Starke Tapping-EFT.NZ from www.EmpowerYou.co.nz Barb is an Emotional Freedom Techniques Practitioner in tapping, mindfulness, and breath work. Barb’s journey into the world of tapping started when she wanted to use it for herself. She did an online course and saw change so continued to do further training and now has advanced qualifications. Barb started Empower You as she wanted to share the benefits of tapping with others.

Tapping is an evidence-based stress management technique for mind and body. Barb helps clients with stress, anxiety, PTSD and chronic pain.

Barb had a client with Fibromyalgia, a condition that causes widespread pain throughout the body or at multiple sites. After 2 sessions with Barb this client had no further pain and today is still pain free which is an amazing result.

Barb wants to introduce as many people as possible to tapping so others can enjoy the benefits.

Today I had a fantastic meeting with Josh Maslen from Maztec. Any glass or glazing requirements, Josh is your man!

Josh has been running Maztec for just over a year after working with his step-father for 12 years. Josh felt the time was right to go out on his own as he had the experience and skills required to run a successful glazing business.

Josh will install cat or dog-doors, replace or upgrade windows and loves to retrofit homes with laminated low E. energy efficient glass which doesn’t break like regular glass does.

Maztec is a small owner-operated business so you can be sure you will be dealing directly with Josh. He is a great guy with good prices providing a service in a cheerful, honest and reliable way.

Today I had a great meeting with Leigh & Ian Waddell from Premier Movers Limited. Leigh and Ian started Premier Movers in 2010 and it has evolved into the business it is today. I first met the team from Premier Movers when they helped us move house in early 2018, we moved once more at the end of 2018 so got their help again. In 2019 we finally found a long-term home and you guessed it we called Leigh at Premier Movers. For each move the team were reliable, always on time, efficient, polite, and overall provided a great service.

These days you will find the team helping customers move house to anywhere in NZ, as well as doing deliveries from Stores, Trade Me orders and Kitchen deliveries. The team will help customers move all sorts including giant garden elephants and they have also transported a mini in one of their trucks as part of a house move.

Premier Movers is a local Waiuku business that supports the local community. They sponsor the Franklin United Soccer under 17s providing the team with new jackets. They also previously sponsored G.C.C racing, Pukekohe Christian School for their gala and Waiuku Primary Netball for assisting with uniforms.

When moving house if you don’t like being left with all those cardboard moving boxes that end up in landfill, Premier Movers have reusable strong ECO plastic boxes for hire. They are stackable and lockable with a cable tie to give you extra peace of mind.

The latest addition at Premier Movers is a caged trailer that is available for half day and full day hires.

Today I met with the amazing Nigel & Sara Knott from Magenta Industries Ltd. They started Magenta Industries in 2020 after selling out of a previous plumbing & gas fitting business. They wanted to be based closer to home in Waiuku and have a business with family values at its core.

Magenta Industries isn’t your standard plumbing and gas fitting business. They will look after all your plumbing; gas fitting and drainage needs but they also have an amazing capability for bathrooms. They are your one stop bathroom shop from personalised design to installation including full project management – they make it easy.

Nigel and Sara are business owners that are focused on looking after their team. They provide everyone with personal development opportunities to enable the team to constantly grow and improve their skills. They make sure everyone in the team is well trained and knowledgeable.

Magenta Industries pride themselves on their great communication with customers and prompt service. They keep to appointment times and do what they say they will do.

This morning I had a great meeting with Dan Swithenbank from DTS Electrical. Dan and his team are based in Pukekohe and were all born and raised in the area.

Dan started DTS Electrical in 2012, after 3 years he moved overseas for 6 years before returning to work for another local electrician. In 2021 Dan decided it was time for DTS Electrical to return.
Dan started out with a focus on renovations and has upskilled to be able to install alarms and heat pumps. Dan also has experience with solar power and has done the full set up of a fully solar powered off grid home.

Dan enjoys working on residential homes as he gets to meet the customer. He also works on commercial, light industrial, farms, and does maintenance for rental properties.

DTS Electrical is a proud sponsor of school homework and activity books for local schools, Counties Manukau Rugby Club, Patumahoe Rugby Club, and a Drift Car in the D1NZ Competition. Dan likes to give back to the community doing volunteer days down at Waiuku Zero Waste, fixing appliances for locals that would otherwise go to landfill.

Today I had a great meeting with Louise and Jim Foote from Taylor Rd Meats. Jim grew up on a sheep and beef farm and has spent the last 12 years in the dairy industry. After 4 or 5 years in the making, in November 2022 Jim and Louise launched Taylor Road Meats to diversify from dairy into beef and to give other families the opportunity to enjoy good quality meat.

The complete process from their paddock to your plate is done by Jim, Louise, and their butcher at Taylor Road Meats. They breed, rear, grow, transport, process, pack and personally deliver with a focus on quality at a reasonable price and ensuring the highest animal welfare standards.

At times you will also find Jim and Louise supporting local causes and getting behind the BBQ selling their sausages and raising funds for local schools and community groups.

I was lucky enough to take home some beef sausages and mince which went down such a treat with the family, I can’t wait to try some of the other products from Taylor Road Meats.

Today I had a great meeting with Andrew from Redline Electrical & Security Ltd. Andrew spent 12 years as an employee working his way up until he started to feel underappreciated. In 2014 he decided to start Redline Electrical & Security and has never looked back having been his own boss for almost 10 years. He knows how to support and train his staff, making sure they always feel appreciated. The team has a real family feel and they get together for lots of events including hunting and fishing.

Andrew and his team provide electrical and security services to residential and light commercial customers. They can help with all electrics, CCTV, ventilation, and heat pump requirements. Andrew loves to do electrical service work where he needs to problem solve to find the fault and work out the best way to fix it.

Andrew was one of the instigators in a Burpee Mile fundraiser. Andrew along with a group of about 20 people completed a mile by only doing burpees. The funds were raised to refurbish a building at Kaleidocare in Pukekohe. They raised $84,000 and Andrew donated a further $20,000 in work and materials to complete the refurbishment.

Just had a great meeting with Nikkita Tito at Kowhai Glow and what a great set up she has!
Nikkita started Kowhai Glow in 2020 after moving out to Waiau Pa and she decided that she wanted more flexibility for her growing family. Nikkita is very creative and loves nail technology, so she went and got herself qualified and now has a fantastic set up in her cabin at home.
Nikkita provides an amazing service which gives clients a chance to do something for themselves, and to feel pampered and feminine. She is a safe space for clients to chat about themselves and what’s going on in their lives. What makes her stand out is her qualifications, high standard of service and cleanliness as well as her friendly nature and fantastic chats.
Nikkita loves to give her clients gel manicures and pedicures (she especially loves feet 😊). She is a specialist in gel and uses quality professional products. Nikkita is currently helping lots of local high school students get ready for their balls and making sure they all have beautiful nails.
