🚨New Zealand has temporarily reduced visitor visa fees for eligible Pacific nationals from NZD $216 to NZD $161 for 12 months from 1 June 2026. The initiative aims to make travel more accessible, strengthen connections with Pacific nations, and support regional mobility while maintaining sustainable immigration settings.

People visiting from the following Pacific nations will have reduced visitor visa fees:

1. American Samoa
2. the Federated States of Micronesia
3. Fiji
4. Kiribati
5. Nauru
6. Palau
7. Papua New Guinea
8. Republic of the Marshall Islands
9. Samoa
10. Solomon Islands
11. Tonga
12. Tuvalu
13. Vanuatu

People from the Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau are New Zealand citizens and do not need visas. Citizens and permanent residents of Australia also travel visa-free under the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement.

New AEWV Update Released Today – What You Need to Know (From 1 June 2026)

Immigration New Zealand has released an important update affecting Skill Level 3 AEWV roles. Here’s a summary of the key changes:

English language requirements are changing
New requirements will apply to applications lodged from 1 June 2026 onwards — even if the Job Check token was issued before this date.

Current visa holders are not impacted (for now)
If you already hold an AEWV, your visa remains valid under current conditions.

Possible exemptions apply. You may be exempt if:

• Your AEWV expires on or before 1 December 2026, or
• You have already demonstrated English ability in a previous AEWV application

No changes to existing visas or employment
Current visa conditions, duration, and existing employment arrangements remain unaffected.

What does this mean for you or your business?

These updates may affect future visa applications and hiring plans, particularly for Skill Level 3 roles.
