A great wee throwback reel showing the life cycle of your food scraps collection… right through to local ‘soil gold’ made by our magicians at our organics yard. ✨

Reducing your food waste by putting out your food scraps every week is one of the highest impact sustainable actions you can take.

Remember to keep using our compost bags (the type of bag is important!!) and keep those pesky fruit stickers out 👌

There's nothing we love more than a good upcycling story, and this one's a goodie, from Michael; a happy customer a few month's back!

"Thought I’d send you a success story of my XZW purchasing.

You’ll see from the attached photos that there’s a record album stand showing. The story behind this is that I sourced three offcuts of native timber from your wood yard. I then spent 5 hours making the album stand, tidying up the wood, routering it, oiling it, etc. I’d already had the polished stainless steel rods made and bent for my record cabinet, this rod was a spare. The ’NOW SPINNING’ engraving was done by Gavin at Cycled Design on Bow Street.

The other bonus here was that I’d earlier picked up the Roberta Flack, Killing Me Softly album from Kaahu’s Nest. It was in what would be termed Very Good condition in audiophile terminology. It’s an original 1973 US pressing with the die cut cover too!

Thanks to you guys from a very happy shopper."

So epic! If you have any upcycling or Kaahu's shopping stories to share- please tag us or send them through. We love hearing them.

Xtreme are stoked to announce that the Go Eco dishwashing caravan will be operational at Manu Bay during the WSL! Choosing reuse over single use, and washing dishes to keep waste from landfill will continue the kaupapa of our epic community’s vision of Zero Waste. ♻️🙏

This has been a community led effort to bring this to life, and we are SO grateful to Waikato District Council, Go Eco and for supporting this… AND (of course) to Nina Nouk and The Dames for the initiative, enthusiasm and mahi in running this throughout the event. Big thanks to Karioi Kitchen.

Here’s the Dames crew looking fab, getting everything sorted for their kick off tomorrow! Make sure to bring your reusables, when you are out for kai!

Looking for something special (but also zero waste) for Mother’s Day?! We’ve got a stunning curated selection put together! Thanks to the fabulous Hinemaia for your amazing visual skills and attention to detail.

And of course- to all the Mama’s in the community thank you for what you do every single day, raising healthy tamariki. I’m slightly early- but it’s worth saying twice (and every day!)

Come and see us tomorrow at Kaahu’s
! 🌸💗
