We love this glimpse into the hand-labelling days of Mateus Rosé in the 1940s/50s. As part of the Sogrape family, it’s a beautiful reminder of the craftsmanship and heritage behind every bottle.

Hand-labelling Mateus Rosé in the late 1940s or early 1950s. Founded in 1942 by Fernando Van Zeller Guedes, Sogrape created a light, lightly sparkling w**e in a distinctive flask-shaped bottle. By the 1980s, worldwide sales — including a white version — hit 3.25 million cases per year, around 40 percent of all Portuguese table w**e exports.
