2022 Beach haven, North shore.
Driveway demolition, Retaining walls, New driveway metal, Create level lower garden area.
We cut the old concrete driveway up into a grid with concrete saws then removed with the small excavator since the driveway access was limited (height and width). We had 5 different retaining wall sections to do and one included bridging to avoid a public sewer pipe. The job took us 7 days and it all went really well. The clients were very nice and often came out with home baking and cold drinks.

Job went really well, great location at a vineyard on Waiheke. We found a really good concrete pumping contractor and island based trucking company for this job, we have continually used both of these contractors for years now.

2022 Mangawhai heads, Northland.
Site cut, Retaining wall, House foundation piles, Accessway.
Stunning location on the cliffs above Managwhai heads. The site was tagged as having archaeological interest so we had to have a prestart meeting with the local iwi before excavations could commence, fortunately we did not unearth artifacts so we were able to keep the job on schedule and on budget. Another successful job.

2022 Rakino island, Auckland.
Site establishment, Site clearing, Topsoil strip.
It was a challenge to get across to this job site, we had to hire a barge and go when there was a king tide, it took 4 hours to get there.
Getting the truck and excavator off the barge took a bit of strategy, winches, anchors, ramps, but we got it done without problem.
I contracted in a walking excavator to carry out the work on the steep property, this was the safest and most efficient way to get the work done. The job went very well, it was an enjoyable few days work in a really nice part of Auckland.

2022 Warkworth, Auckland.
Topsoil strip, site cut, accessway, building platform, Retaining wall.
We were dodging the rain a bit on this job as it was on the edge of winter.
We found a load of buried tree stumps in the building platform which required tipping fees, extra spoil removal, metal imported and compacted and engineering tests. This added a fair bit of cost onto the project for the home owner. It always pays to get enough Geotech bore holes when selecting a piece of land this could have discovered this buried tip site and enabled the client to barter with the purchase price of the section.

2022 Masterton, Wairarapa.
Topsoil strip, Accessway, Pile foundations house and deck, Electrical mains.
A busy weeks work out of town, we had issues with the hire digger leaking hydraulics and blowing a hose, they couldn't get their mechanic to come fix it so I ended up repairing the leaks so we could keep our concrete pour date as per schedule. On concrete pour day the concrete truck driver somehow drove the truck off the driveway and we had to hire a large tractor to drag his truck back onto the driveway.
We overcame these issues and kept the job on track, everything was successful and the builders were able to take over as planned, no delays.

2022 Warkworth, North Auckland.
Silt control, Retaining walls, Site cut and fill, Building platform, Tank excavation.
This job was on the edge of winter (as per clients requirements) and it required a cut and fill, there had been regular rain so the clay was not usable, to get the engineered compaction requirements for under the building platform we had to use engineered gap 40, we were able to use the best quality dryer clay for the garden area away from structural works. If you are looking at land that needs a fill always check the clay quality and aim for earthworks in the drier months.
