Established in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley, at the north-eastern tip of New Zealand’s South Island and amongst some of the region’s toughest viticultural conditions, the story of Yealands Family Wines was always going to be one of thinking differently. On 08.08.08, having completed the enormous task of sculpting his vast rolling terroir from behind the wheel of his digger, Peter Yealands opened the landmark Yealands Estate Winery. With designed-in sustainability features and cutting-edge SMART green technology, it was the first in the world to be carboNZeroCertTM from inception. Within eight vintages, the talented team has won 25 trophies and more than 1,200 awards. Most recently the Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 collected two trophies, one at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2016 for Best Red Wine and another at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition 2016 for Best Wine with honey glazed char siu. The previous year Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2015 collected two trophies at the Cathy Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition 2015, for Best New World Sauvignon Blanc and Best Wine from New Zealand, and named Sauvignon Blanc of the Year Australia New Zealand at the Winestate Wine of the Year Awards 2015.

Tomorrow our very own assistant W**emaker, Mike, takes part in the Tonnellerie de Mercurey Marlborough Young W**emaker of the year competition.

He’ll be put through his paces with a series of tests from blending to lab tests to viticulture knowledge.

The whole team are rallying and cheering for him! Good luck Mike 🎉🍷
