Full time Experienced Beekeeper Position in Takapau Central Hawkes Bay
Kintail Honey was started in 1947, it is an established family business. Kintail Honey produces, buys, packs, sells and markets honey, breeds queens and services a variety of crop pollination. We export live bees and queens. We are looking for an experienced beekeeper to add to our team in Takapau, Central Hawkes Bay.

· Can do attitude and self-motivated
· Physically fit and healthy – manual heavy lifting is part of the job
· A passion, interest and sound knowledge in beekeeping with a minimum of five years’ experience.
· A full clean car licence as a minimum – HT training may be given if required.
· AFB recognition course preferable (training is provided)
· Has an understanding of Health and Safety in the work place and is subject to random drug and alcohol test.
· The position is full time (42.5 hours per week) with additional hours due to seasonal demand – pollination, honey production etc.
· Wage as per experience between $27.00-$30.00 per hour Minimum 5yrs commercial beekeeping experience or a formal relevant qualification
· The Kintail group of companies does NOT put off staff in the winter

Job Description
- Inspecting bees for diseases such as AFB and Varroa
- Treating for Varroa
- Preparing hives for pollination
- Transporting hives to pollination
- Feeding sugar, pollen and manipulating hives during build up
- Making up nucleus hives and mating nucs
- Supering hives, honey pulling
- Package bee production
- Honey extraction
- Possibly production and introduction of cells and queens
- Constructing and making hive wood-ware and equipment
- Other beekeeping related duties as required
- Any other work which may be required
- Maintaining transparent communication with your operations Manager and team leaders
