Research Document from 2019. The original website no longer exists, but will be integrated in to my Natural Assets website when it gets a revamp a bit later this year. Although I no longer live in Katikati, I have many fond memories of amazing people met during the research project. That is the beauty of Participative Action Research - you get to be a part of the community you are conducting the research with.

One of my passions is affordable housing which has been the subject of thousands of hours being socially active to plant seeds of change and challenge legislative barriers on the topic.
I have a particular connection to shipping containers, and have converted 13 for multiple uses, including 2bdrm off grid self contained homes.
I don't usually talk about that on this page, so if you have a shared interest for affordable alternative housing options feel free to check out my Affordable Container Conversions page.

As a self-confessed addict of converted shipping containers, and other affordable alternatives to house people, This page is to inspire people about their versatility and to share information about living alternatives to the restrictive status quo.

COMMUNITY-LED CHANGE is a leading passion of mine (personally and professionally). I believe Communities are the best placed to identify their own strengths, what needs to change, and who and how that can be facilitated.
I really enjoyed this interview with Russell Brand on his life, spirituality and recovery. One particular gem that resonates with CLD is his quote below to the question 'How do you systemically change things;:

"Bring power as close as possible to the people who are affected by it"....and
"Default to de-centralisation and localisation wherever possible
(obviously this is not going to yeald perfection straight away, but look out your window...we are not competing with perfection we are competing with corruption)"

In this new episode Steven sits down with actor, comedian, and activist Russell Brand.0:00 Intro02:54 Your early context09:05 What would have made you feel m...
