As a stakeholder and strategic partner we received today a final copy of the Smart Growth Implementation and Funding Plan - 2024-2074. For many years we have lobbied for the Te Puke region - The Papamoa Hills to Otamarakau. The plan is a 66 page document. There is a map we think is important to share. The Eastern Corridor is clearly identified. Te Puke, Maketu, Pukehina Beach, Paengaroa, Pongakawa and Otamarakau. Of particular importance is the green line that identifies the linkage between Te Puke, Paengaroa and Pongakawa. These 3 communities have strong economic drivers which stimulate jobs and the need for more housing. These 3 areas have capacity for housing growth. This map confirms our long held contention that we have seamlessly connected communities that contribute to our world class value proposition. What we need to do is enable housing and welcome with open arms entrepreneurs, investors and developers who want to deliver housing in sync with our economic growth. This is an excellent map. It makes clear that the Eastern Corridor is critical for growth and the success that follows. Comfort for generations to come.
