Started another small project today, extending a decking area for a day bed.
New frame constructed for a nice tight fit in the space. Just a matter of leveling and fixing to existng frame work before adding decking boards.

Got the frame levelled and installed yesterday before adding 32mm decking boards. Turned out very nice.

Walls to follow over next few days.

GIB fitted to 1 wall and all framing compleyed yesterday to accept the new GIB boards.

Made huge progress yesterday getting GIB on walls and around windows, would have finished but ran out of boards!

Picked up some handy boards from Bunnings and finished off the last section of wall yesterday. Really happy with how this has turned out. Just need to get it plastered next week.

Customer asked me to come up with a solution to create a standing base for her outside shower. So built a frame out of Kwila decking timber. Will lay this under the shower (currently lawn) and leveling before filling with concrete and adding decorative tiles as the inset.

Frame installed today, customer wanted it sitting a bit lower so had to cut a channel around base in lawn to drop height by around 40mm. Looks good now, all levelled with a slope away from house to allow water runoff. Will be adding concrete shortly and then a moisture seal, so i dont have to wait 6 weeks or so before I can add the tiles 😁

Concrete poured and Bostik moisture seal applied so I can tile the area without having to wait for concrete to fully dry out.

Started a small project today, creating a concrete pad for rubbish bins and their housing. Dug out the area where bins will sit and installed a timber frame at the desired hight, adding a slight fall away from the house. All trady to accept concrete tomorrow.

Concrete poured and let to set. Bin cover refitted and levelled and working like a charm.

Completed a repair on an external chimney breast today. Plaster had cracked badly in several places, so opened up the cracks and used a mortar based filler to seal them and then am external filler over the top to provide a smooth finish, hiding the cracks. Fresh coat of paint over the top and hopefully it will last for many more years to come.

Got a laundry room fit out on the go. Fitted a couple of cabinets last Friday,,making all cutouts for plumbing. Got the countertop precious cut to size by the trusty Plyman at Malene Street, thanks guys. Countertop fitted in the space like a glove 👌.
Made final adjustments to cabinets before securing to walls and then secured coutertop to cabinets. The template for sink cutout was missing, so had to wing it, making a rough cutout. Will route out the hole for a precise fit tomorrow.

Sink cutout complete and hole cut for tap. Tap fitted and plumber in. Sink to be siliconed in tomorrow.

Busy on a shower regrout for last few days. Got myself a Makita oscillating tool to replace my old one, along with some grout bits. Also got a couple of grout bits for my Dremel and a continuous diamond disk for my angle grinder. The combination of all three was fantastic, allowing me to get right into the mitred upstanding and into the small joints for shower bevel. Came out bllody good, but what an idiot, forgot to take post install photos 😑

Feeling rotten! First time to take a sick day since starting out on my own in June 2025. Bloody man flu got me 🤢 Tucked up in bed keeping warm drinking plenty of Lemon & Honey.

My sick day didn't last too long! Had to walk the dogs at 11 AM, then got 2 jobs completed this avo. No sick pay when self employed 😪

Got a couple of quick jobs out of the way yesterday, and GIB repair to curtain rail fixing. Then replacement of a range hood. This should have been a like for like replacement, but Manufacturer had changed the design! Had to take radical steps to make it fit, by turning the cabinet doors into false panels, as hinges would no longer fit due to size of rangehood housing.
