Today, growers and industry professionals came together to connect, share knowledge and hear from our expert technical team about the season ahead and how to best navigate the crucial spring growth stages.

A little behind-the-scenes look at today’s event, with plenty more to come as the roadshow rolls on!

We’ve been a little quiet on socials… but that’s because we’ve been busy in the canopy.

Winter pruning has been keeping the team busy, resetting the canopy and preparing our orchards for the season ahead. Here’s a little look at what we’ve been working on! 💚

Meet Nanique Bonthuys, our 2026 Bay of Plenty Young Grower of the Year contestant.

Nanique is an Orchard Manager with Prospa, based in Ōpōtiki. With five years of experience in the horticulture industry, she enjoys the hands-on nature of orchard work and the variety of challenges each season brings.

Driven by a passion for continuous learning, Nanique is focused on developing both her technical and leadership skills, particularly in team management and orchard performance. She entered the Bay of Plenty Young Grower competition to challenge herself, build confidence, and connect with others who share her passion for horticulture.

Outside of work, Nanique enjoys running and spending quality time with family and friends.

Great things happen when the industry works together.

Through the Ballance Agri‑Nutrients Cash for Communities programme,Prospa teamed up with Baygold and Southern Cross Horticulture to support a local charity.

For every tonne of fertiliser purchased through Fruited Supplies, a donation was made to the Daily Charitable Trust in Te Puke.

The trust plays a vital role in making nutritious kai accessible — supporting local tamariki through meals, school lunches, Meals on Wheels, and food rescue.

We’re proud to be part of an initiative that gives back where it matters most. And the good news? The programme will run again this coming season, supporting another local charity.

More than just hectares and harvests.
At Prospa, our people are what make it all happen.

Introducing Prospa Faces — our new monthly series where we share the stories behind the team.

From their journey in the industry to life on the orchard, get to know the people putting in the work, season after season.

Every orchard has a story — and so do our people.

Meet Stirling Orton:

Part of our Pathways Programme, Stirling is building his career from the ground up — learning the ropes and getting stuck into all aspects of orchard management.

Kiwifruit Pickers Wanted! 🥝

Harvest is here and we’re looking for kiwifruit pickers based in Te Puke for an immediate start!

If you’re keen to get stuck in, now’s the time to join our crew! You’ll be working in teams of 10–12 picking kiwifruit, with pay based on a bin rate.

No prior experience is needed — we’re simply looking for people with a positive attitude, good physical fitness (you’ll be on your feet and carrying picking bags up to 25kg), reliable transport to and from the orchards, and the legal right to work in NZ.

Hours are flexible and may vary during the week depending on weather conditions, while still offering steady, consistent work throughout the season.

There’s also potential for ongoing work beyond harvest for those who prove to be a great fit.

If you’re ready to be part of a great team and put in a solid day’s work, we’d love to hear from you.
