17 February 2026: Service interruption - Pupu Valley, Rangihaeata: Over the last few days, there have been some short disruptions to service over the last few days due to earthworks and tree-felling operations near one the sites which links to the Pupu/Rangihaeata areas.
More tree felling is occurring today - so there may be further short interruptions while trees are being dropped.

Update for Pupu and Rangihaeata customers. We are sorry but the internet wont be back tonight. Someone has taken all our gear from the transmitter overnight, apart from what is mounted on top of the pole. We will have to source and replace what has been taken, which will take more time. We are extremely unhappy about this. If you have any info which would be useful please direct message us.

This will affect our network as well.

UPDATE: This work has been postponed. Telecommunications company Chorus had been hoping to get the permanent fix in place ahead of the potentially poor weather forecast for next week, but the temporary fix has performed well through the last two weather events and they have decided think it's more important to give the community time to plan and prepare before any further disruption, especially with the potential impact on 111 services.

Their technicians will continue to closely monitor the temporary fix, especially in the lead-up to next week’s forecasted wet weather. They’ll also use this additional time to explore any further steps they can take to reduce disruption and ease concerns for the community.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chorus has advised they are implementing the permanent solution for the fibre across Lindsays Bridge Tākaka, this Thursday from 11pm.

Unfortunately, during this time, they don’t have the ability to intercept 111 calls at the Tākaka Exchange, so the Golden Bay community will not be able to call 111 between midnight and 1am while the circuits are cut over to the permanent cable.

If you have any questions about this, please reach out to Chorus.

Mohua / Golden Bay power outage; 7 July 2024:
There may be a short drop in connectivity due to the region-wide power cut today. We do have back-up power in place, but our first option is to rely on the Network Tasman generator supply for the Takaka CBD.

If there is an outage this morning, it should be resolved within about 30 minutes.
