Audited and FSC® compliant. ✅

We’re proud to say that we just completed our annual FSC® audit at all three of our branches (Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland) and have officially passed, confirming we meet the standards of a FSC-certified facility.

FSC® stands for the Forest Stewardship Council® , which is an independent, non-governmental, international not-for-profit organisation. It was established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests and to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.

Achieving and maintaining FSC® certification is a significant compliance and integrity endorsement throughout the international print, paper and packaging industry.

As a wholesale paper supplier that is dedicated to the promotion of sustainable practice and products, B&F has committed to ensuring that we stock a wide range of FSC-certified products.

For certification purposes, our processes, systems and documentation must be capable of demonstrating the Chain of Custody process of an FSC certified product throughout the supply chain (e.g., from FSC certified plantations and mills to the wholesaler (us).

New FSC® Certification is issued every three years, but annual audits ensure that those standards and processes are maintained in the intervening years.

Just two more days and its officially (according to most people 😉) Spring.

But these longer, warmer days are still tough for people living with cancer. And scarily, that is one in three of us.

Today is Daffodil Day, a fundraising day for the Cancer Society, which doesn’t get any government funding – none at all. All of the incredible work they do and support they give comes from community and communal generosity.

If you can, be part of that community today (or any day). When you’re out and about today, look for the bright yellow daffodil sellers, and please support them in any way you can.

Ghosting - the sudden unexplained dearth of replies to texts, emails, messages. Hellloooo....?

But in printing, ghosting is about unexpected appearances, like when a faint image appears where it’s not supposed to be. It might have transferred one wet page onto another, or perhaps it has repeated itself as a ‘double’, beside the original.

It’s never a good look and even though you can’t exorcise these ghosts, you can avoid them. Choose high-quality paper and inks, maintain your equipment, let your prints dry before collating them, and follow the print instructions from your paper supplier or manufacturer.

Is this a new symbol of hope and shared commitment?

This is the new international symbol for reuse, and it identifies reusable products and primary packaging (packaging that comes into direct contact with a product), and the infrastructure that delivers them towards their next life.

Reuse has the potential to decrease plastic packaging manufacturing by up to 90% (and associated climate emissions) compared to single-use alternatives, so this ‘R’ is worth knowing about – and seeing in our communities.

The reuse symbol was launched in 2025 by PR3, a global alliance to advance reuse, and although New Zealand is not yet part of the system, it has been rolled out in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Today is the National Day of South Korea, home to some of B&F’s range of premium coated papers.

Paper has been an integral part of Korean culture for over 1,800 years. Back then, Koreans typically made paper from h**p, rattan, bamboo, rice straw and seaweed, but their most famous paper was, and still is, hanji. Handmade from mulberry tree bark, hanji is so durable and multifunctional that it is used not just for writing, calligraphy, and art but for door screens, clothing, fans and lanterns.

Visual overload is everywhere. Just look around a typical inner-city street – every corner is jammed with bright, fast-moving digital billboards.
