Pryde Contracting has been shaping Wairoa’s landscape for almost 50 years, and the locally owned business is showing no signs of slowing down.

As the region’s trusted earthworks specialists continue to grow, they’re also breathing new life into North Clyde, transforming their expansive Carroll Street site into a vibrant multi-purpose business hub.

Second-generation owners Sam and Siobhan Pryde took the reins of the family-owned civil construction and earthmoving business from Sam’s parents, Hamish and Barb Pryde, two and a half years ago. Today, they’re building on a proud legacy while bringing fresh ideas, new services and exciting plans for the future.

The Pryde Team is feeling pretty proud today! The installation of this much-anticipated sign marks a huge milestone in the ongoing repairs and renovations to our building and yard. A big thanks to Brendan at D&L Decorators for the fantastic paint job and Wilsigns for the sign itself. We're chuffed!

If you have concrete to dispose of, you can drop it off next door to us on Carroll Street (by arrangement), or save yourself the heavy lifting and we can pick it up!

We’ve just finished up this solid concrete driveway and we think the rugged volcanic rock wall tops it off nicely. Our guys said it was a bit like playing a giant, heavy-duty game of Tetris to get those rocks sitting perfectly, but we reckon the final look speaks for itself. Perfect framing for the lawn and a great backdrop for those native tussocks! 🌾

"Wait... you guys actually DO the concreting?!" 🤯

Yep! We've just had someone tell us they thought we only hired out our tracked mixer, so we're setting the record straight: Prydes doesn't just supply the gear — our crew does the actual doing!

Here’s a prime example: a bridge abutment out on a remote farm. In this instance, the farmer carted the raw materials in by tractor, and our tracked concrete mixer and crew got stuck straight into the job.

From remote farm jobs to town pours, we mix it, lay it and finish it. Need a job done from start to finish? Give Prydes a buzz!

Do you have trees that need attention? We’ll soon be hiring a specialist Tree Shear attachment, which is great for:

• De-limbing: Removing heavy overhanging branches safely and precisely.
• Tree Removal: Taking down whole trees (up to the attachment’s capacity) with total control.
• Woody Vegetation Clearing: Removing saplings and smaller trees that are too big for a mulcher or scrub-cutter.
• Shelterbelt Topping: Tidying up overgrown treelines.
• Fenceline Clearing: Snagging trees that are leaning over or damaging your wire.

Note: This gear is built for wood! For light scrub, toitoi or grass, our standard buckets are still the way to go, but for the "woody" stuff, this shear is the boss.
