At Northland Waste, we’re incredibly proud to support Mahurangi Hope Church Warkworth Christian Foodbank and the vital work they do for whānau across our community.

Foodbank has seen a growing number of working families, especially young families, needing extra support as rising living costs and unexpected challenges continue to put pressure on households. Standing alongside these whānau during difficult times reinforces just how important accessible, compassionate support really is.

It’s the little things that make the biggest difference 💙

One of our drivers, Wazza, recently stopped to help someone out with a flat tyre. No fuss, just genuine kindness when it was needed most. (She later stopped by our Warkworth branch to personally thank Wazza, which meant a lot to our team!)

We’re proud to have people like Wazza on our team, going above and beyond to help others, both on and off the road. It’s moments like these that remind us what community is all about.

Northland Waste is proud to support ParentPort North Inc and the incredible impact they make behind the scenes for families in Warkworth and surrounding communities.

ParentPort is a free, community-based service providing short-term, practical support to families with young children who may be feeling overwhelmed. This can include help around the home, support with childcare, meal preparation, or simply giving parents a chance to rest, recharge, or attend important appointments.

The feedback shared here is anonymous and comes directly from families ParentPort has supported. Sometimes it’s the quiet support, a helping hand, a moment to breathe, that makes the biggest difference.

💙 Trish & Nare - Oakura’s local heroes

While Oakura has been dealing with flooding, two of our own Trish and her son Nare have been right at the heart of the response.

As operators at the Oakura Transfer Station, they’ve kept the site open, helped manage free flood disposal provided by Whangarei District Council and coordinated the hook bins being used to clear damaged material from around the community.

They’ve even delayed clearing their own flood-damaged homes so they could keep helping others and after being evacuated yesterday, they’ve chosen to stay close to the station so they can be back helping again tomorrow.

Since Monday, more than 10 tonnes of flood-damaged material has already been removed from Oakura. Thanks to their dedication and the wider team working through tough conditions.

If you’ve heard Trish on RNZ yesterday, you’ll know how deeply she cares about this community. We couldn’t be prouder.

🎉 Big milestone for Northland Waste! On 15 September, we celebrated the handover of our 100th Hino truck 🚛💙

From just 5 trucks in 2013 to over 100 today, Hino has been with us every step of the way – delivering strength, durability, and reliability that keep our communities moving.

A huge thank you to Hino NZ and Wilkinson Transport Engineers for being part of this journey. Here’s to the next 100! 🙌
