ess Advisory was born in Røyken, a small municipality in Eastern Norway. The Old Norse name for Røyken is Hraukvin and means “Peaks and Valleys” which is typical of Røyken’s topography. Hraukvin also means “Cone-shaped pile” which is likely to originate from how they in the old days piled peat from the marshland – so it could be dried – and then used as fuel for indoor heating purposes (as an alternative to firewood). A cone-shaped pile could also be a pile of rocks that to this day is used as path markers for mountain crossings. Hraukvin Business Advisory is headquartered in Wellington, New Zealand.
