There’s much to do and look forward to in Martinborough this June and July!

Our vineyard restaurant now has its seasonally changing winter menus available for a cozy Lunch or Dinner, with lots to choose from (and includes our complimentary pick-up and drop-off at night in our Tirohana shuttle van if you’re staying locally in Martinborough, so need to drive - or even find a parking space :) ). Special dietary options are available.

By popular demand, our traditional Tirohana Sunday Roast returns this winter every Sunday! This is a set menu offering a rustic Soup of the Day, the Sunday Roast itself, and a dessert (apple crumble) all for a special price of $49. Bookings are recommended. So why not roast yourself by the warmth of the fire and tuck into a roast each Sunday? There’s lots of other choices too with our ‘regular’ winter Lunch menu also available. The first Sunday Roast in June is a succulent Roast Pork.

We also have all day dining options available every day, including our Tirohana High Tea.

In celebration of the solstice and midwinter, we are holding our Mid-Winter Christmas themed Lunch and Dinner events this June & July on the following dates:

- Friday 26 June, Saturday 27 June, Sunday 28 June

- Friday 24 July, Saturday 25 July, Sunday 26 July

Enjoy the sparkling fairy lights, Christmas trees, decorations, evocative music, mulled wine, and festive food by the warmth of the fire. A wonderful lunch or dinner for a couple or a group, this annual Tirohana institution is something you won't want to miss. And, if you're feeling particularly festive, feel free to dress festively to suit the occasion - we'll be running a prize-draw competition (for fun) for everyone who submits a Midwinter Christmas photo from one of this year’s events, on our Tirohana social media pages.

The menu has other options for those not wanting to indulge in the festive fare.

We are taking bookings for Matariki weekend this year which falls on Fri 10th July to Sun 12th July. On the day itself and over the holiday weekend, we will be celebrating Matariki with its themes of celebrating life, connecting with whanau and honouring our ancestors and those who have gone before.

The stars in Martinborough are so beautiful with the Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve. Clients will be welcome to sit outside after their dinners and observe the stars (subject to the weather of course :) ), perhaps with your choice of wine, liqueurs, cocktails or a cozy hot chocolate? As always at Tirohana, there will be no public holiday surcharge.

Our Cellar Door is open 7 days per week for wine tasting and the Tirohana team love to have a chat about what goes into each bottle and the story of each wine and vintage. Our Emporium shop is also open with a range of gifts and estate-made produce such as Pinot Noir wine jelly.

Stay warm and we look forward to seeing you in Martinborough this winter.

Happy long Kings Birthday Weekend to all and we hope you are well. The last of the Autumn leaves are about to fall as winter beckons.

This weekend, we are delighted to announce our latest Pinot Noir from the 2025 vintage which we have called Grace - and Toby snapped a photo today of this newest release, in the aged vines from where it came. This is Mother Nature’s message in a bottle, graceful, versatile. Aged for 12 months in French oak, Grace is a perfectly balanced and elegant classic Martinborough Pinot from Tirohana’s homeblock heritage vines - and is now available exclusively to take home from Tirohana's Cellar Door and to experience at our on site vineyard restaurant.

From grape to glass, vine to bottle, the depths of winter 2024 to the warmth of the harvest in 2025 when it was picked, then oaked for a year, we're thrilled with 'Grace' which captures the story of the 2025 vintage in every sip. Boutique and handmade, this limited run wine is very suited to drinking now and will also cellar well for the future.

We're open on the public holiday Monday for lunch, dinner, high tea and all day dining (bookings recommended), as well as wine tasting - and as usual, there will be no public holiday surcharge at Tirohana.

Have a great holiday weekend and Monday and we're looking forward to seeing you on your next visit to Martinborough and introducing you to the latest member of our Tirohana family of wines, 'Grace'.

Best wishes from all the team!

It’s getting lovely and cozy in Martinborough and winter is coming! We hope you are well.

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our new Autumn/Winter themed menus for Lunch and Dinner. There’s lots to choose from including new dishes such as Beef Short Ribs… a Rustic Lamb… Roasted Chicken Breast… Oven baked Fillet of Salmon… crème… Courgette Fritters with Lime and cardamom cream…

For those with a sweet tooth, we have a delicious unbaked White Chocolate Cheesecake… Chocolate and Amaretti Pudding… Panna cotta… Coconut & Lemon Pudding.. and our classic Signature Bread & Butter Pudding.

This week Captain Sam the cat was curious at some unexpected animal visitors to the vineyard in the form of some sheep. We don’t think they were out wine tasting (sorry to all sheep out there, our boutique wine is for humans only ;) ) but the sheep were very cute and seemed to enjoy their visit.

We’re taking bookings for King’s Birthday Weekend and will be open each day for Cellar Door wine tasting, all day dining & high tea, and of course Lunch and Dinner (and as usual, there will be no holiday surcharge at Tirohana).

Mid-Winter Christmas is returning by popular demand in June & July. The restaurant will be transformed into a winter wonderland with decorations, Christmas music, and a festive menu (and don’t forget the mulled wine)! This exclusive event is very popular and high in demand for both Lunch and Dinner, so make sure to book ahead of time to avoid disappointment!

June Dates: 26th, 27th, 28th.

July Dates: 24th, 25th, 26th.

The colder months are such a beautiful time of year. The colors of the vineyard transform into a vivid palette of gold, crimson and amber. What better way to enjoy the lovely scenery than staying in our Tirohana Colonial House vinestay, which is a fantastic accommodation option for an intimate getaway or a larger group stay. We have some great packages available. Visit www.tirohanaestate.com/accommodation for more information.

Best wishes from all the team and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Martinborough.

We’re also taking bookings for Matariki weekend in July (where you can sit out and observe the stars above with a hot chocolate, cocktail or Pinot Noir or your favourite drink).

So here's raising a glass to all (especially Mothers this week) and wishing all our clients and visitors the best, and all the Tirohana team (including Captain Sam the cat) look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Martinborough and to being of service. Cheers!

Walking through the vines this morning, Toby spotted a real poppy growing on its own in the vines which was poignant and apt for today's meaning. Lest we forget. We think about all those who served and have been affected by war. We will remember them.

Autumn is such a lovely time in Martinborough with the nights drawing in and it gets so cozy, but there can still be some fine weather during the day to enjoy sitting outside (though what a time it has been with the weather in NZ lately and we hope the recent Cyclone events and floods haven't affected anyone adversely). Here's hoping for a cozy and relaxing Autumn for all!

With harvest finishing a few weeks ago, the vines are having a much deserved break and the beautiful autumnal colours are starting to appear.

So many people have enjoyed seeing pictures of our vineyard cat, Captain Sam, so here's a couple more recent photos of him (he has taken to sitting on the barrels :) ).

We will be introducing our seasonally-changing Autumn menu soon and have a lot coming up to look forward to over the next few weeks:

Over Mother's Day weekend (with the big day on Sunday 10th May) we will be open for lunch, dinner and all day dining, as well as Tirohana high tea. On the Sunday itself, we will have a special Mother's Day lunch (including a surprise to all Mothers who attend). Reservations recommended.

Our annual and traditional Mid-Winter Christmas event returns in June (weekend of 26th-28th June) and in July (weekend 24th-26th July). It's an event full of festive themed food and cheer to bring some winter warmth with theming, a fabulous atmosphere and festive music. Bookings essential.

We'll be honouring Anzac Day and paying our respects in the morning on Sat 25th April. The rest of the day, we are open for lunch, dinner, Cellar Door and high tea. There will be no public holiday surcharge that day.

If you are looking to stay in Martinborough this autumn, we have some fantastic accommodation packages available in our on-site vinestay homestay accommodation (for more information or to make a booking, please check out https://www.tirohanaestate.com/accommodation/ ).

Throughout the rest of the Autumn season, we are open every day for wine tasting and sales in our Cellar Door and our Emporium has a wide selection of gifts and chutneys/preserves.

Whatever and whenever the occasion, Toby and the Tirohana team (as well as Captain Sam the cat :) ) look forward to seeing you and being of service on your next visit to Martinborough.

We hope you are well! Wishing you a healthy and Happy Easter weekend from all the team at Tirohana Estate in Martinborough.

The Easter holidays are such a special time to be with loved ones, family and friends, making new memories for the future and cherishing memories of times past. To celebrate life and being together with those special in our lives.

Our vineyard restaurant and Cellar Door is open every day over the Easter weekend and Easter holidays for lunch, dinner, high tea and wine tasting (bookings are recommended). And there may even be some Easter egg treats for clients who do some wine tasting over the Easter weekend (provided Toby does not first eat all the Easter eggs in Martinborough :) ). We have some specials for clients who dine with us and take a bottle or two away (our boutique wine is available only exclusively through the Cellar Door).

We also have our all day dining 'light bites' menu available extended over the Easter holiday period which offers a choice of casual dining options to enjoy all day on our scenic terraces overlooking the vineyard, or can be served in the Cellar Door seating area (bookings recommended).

So there's plenty of options whatever time of day including our lunch two-course and three-course specials, or if you wanted to sit back and relax with a glass of wine. Our Emporium shop is also open each day with a range of estate-produced chutneys and preserves, as well as a selection of gifts.

And as always, for clients experiencing dinner at Tirohana, our complimentary Tirohana shuttle van service is available for all clients staying locally in Martinborough (where we can pick you up and drop you back after your meal).

There will be no surcharge on the public holiday days at Tirohana Estate.
To book a table please call 06 306 9933 or email [email protected] or book online at https://www.tirohanaestate.com/restaurant/book-a-table/ .

Have a great long weekend, a Happy Easter, and the team looks forward to seeing everyone in Martinborough over the Easter holidays (and who knows, maybe even a visit from the Easter Bunny!)

The 2026 Harvest Season is underway at Tirohana Estate in Martinborough!

We were delighted to pick our Pinot Noir this week! It’s always an exciting time of year, seeing the fruits of our hard work paying off, as well as the miracles of Mother Nature. It’s incredible witnessing the vineyard transform throughout the year, and amazing to think that a few months ago, the leaves were only just beginning to appear, and before we knew it, we were already picking.

Thanks to all involved for getting up so early and picking the grapes by hand. Our mature Pinot Noir vines, planted decades ago, produce a new ‘story’ of each year with every harvest, unique to that year’s vintage.

The grapes looked lovely and we can’t wait for the next chapter of this year’s vintage - and of course finally tasting the finished result from the 2026 vintage!
