Dutchy - The expert on installing CropX sensors here in NZ!

Our sensor is sold as a DIY install, but as we all know New Zealand has some challenges with stoney soils in certain areas. Sometimes the auger we provide doesn't cut the mustard getting to the desired 660mm depth and having a crowbar or shovel at hand is key to making sure the sensor is installed correctly for accurate readings.

Meet Dutchy, Our CropX Installation Expert!

At Dairy Holdings, Richard—known to the team as 'Dutchy'—is the go-to guy for expertly installing all 282 CropX - New Zealand sensors across our farms. His precision ensures accurate data for better decision-making, helping us optimize water usage, soil health, and pasture management.

The installation process requires real attention to detail. Dutchy carefully excavates the soil, installs each sensor in the ideal location, and backfills it to ensure perfect contact. He even makes the sensors stock-proof to protect them from damage.

We're grateful for Dutchy’s hard work, especially dealing with Canterbury's challenging, stony soils!

An exciting announcement from CropX this week!
With the use of an in-field nitrogen sensor, growers will able to better manage nitrogen fertilizer application, reduce fertilizer cost and practise sustainable management. We look forward to seeing this technology be included in the CropX platform.

What a great way to start the week with our CropX NZ conference.
A half day filled with seeing what future holds including a long-range forecast weather update by MetService New Zealand. Irrigation update from Irrigation New Zealand Inc, Innovation snapshot by Agritech New Zealand and customer Dairy Holdings with their approach to the changing environment.

We also revealed our new ET sensor and shared exciting new features in the CropX pipeline!
