The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade holds annual roadshows on the New Zealand Aid Programme’s achievements and direction.

New Zealand will host the Pacific Islands Forum in 2027. It was requested that the private sector be involved in the events so that businesses can contribute and be aware of Pacific priorities including climate change adaptation and quality infrastructure.

It was a great honour to be invited to talk to Masters students by the Head of School of Government at Victoria University of Wellington, Dr Barb Allen. The class were very enthusiastic in providing ideas for public procurement reform which was fed back immediately to the government concerned. 💡

Starting 1 January 2026, all contracts financed by ADB will be evaluated using merit point criteria—a reform that will strengthen our commitment to quality, sustainability, and inclusive development.

This landmark reform is part of a procurement approach that will help create local jobs, promote early supplier engagement, and ensure contracts are awarded to bidders capable of delivering sustainable results and long-term development impact in the region.
