Last week, we said ka kite to the latest ASEAN Public Leadership Programme cohort as they wrapped up their time in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

Led by Programme Director Dr Pak Yoong, the programme brings together mid-to-senior-level public sector leaders from across ASEAN to strengthen leadership capability, deepen connections, and support regional collaboration. This cohort included 14 senior officials from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam.

During their time in Wellington, participants were welcomed to Victoria University of Wellington with a mihi whakatau, engaged in classroom learning with our expert facilitators, and explored the city.

At a networking evening, they connected with ambassadors, representatives from MFAT, and public servants from across ministries, strengthening relationships across the region. Attendees heard from Anna Fifield, who shared insights on New Zealand’s relationship with ASEAN and opportunities for future collaboration.
