180 metres long, with post bases up 30 metres off road level, Abseil Access are proud to have delivered one of New Zealand’s longest rockfall attenuator fences at O’Sullivan’s Bluffs, a major infrastructure protection project completed under complex access, traffic and geological conditions.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱:
• Installation of a 180m ATT 30 attenuator barrier, with post bases reaching heights of up to 30m
• Over 6,300 m² of high tensile rockfall mesh including ~950m2 of anchored active mesh drape
• 200+ rock anchors drilled and installed using rope access and specialist plant
• Works completed while maintaining live traffic, with only short closures for heli-lifts, blasting and scaling when required
From helicopter-assisted logistics to drilling in fractured geology, this was a technically demanding job delivered safely over 5 and a half months by an experienced, highly coordinated crew.
A huge credit to the team behind the ropes, rigs, cranes and traffic control, keeping State Highway 6 protected for the long term.
