Tip Shop Wellington

Tip Shop Wellington Resource Recovery Centre, Recycle Centre, and Tip Shop Bring your E-waste to drop off at the Tip Shop for reuse or recycling.

Most e-waste is accepted for free. A charge applies for TVs and monitors, which are sent off-site to be broken down for hazardous materials. Good quality clothing and textiles can be donated to the Tip Shop or put into the clothing bins at the Recycle Centre (run by a private organisation). The following types of recycling can be dropped off at the Recycle Centre bins for free:

glass bottles and

jars
paper and cardboard
plastics with the recycling symbol and the numbers 1, 2 and 5
aluminium cans and steel tins

Please separate metal caps and lids and use buckets provided at bottle bank or bring to the drop off area where they can be recycled separately from glass containers. Please bring plastic lids to the till, separated into and , for recycling. NO ELECTIONEERING
The Wellington City Council page must not be used for electioneering purposes. Any post - positive or negative - made by any individual specifically relating to their own - or someone else's - nomination, intention to run for Council or election campaign, will be removed immediately.

1. Assistance from the Student Volunteer Army (SVA)

The Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington SVA is hitting the ground this weekend to assist households with clean-up and recovery. If you need help, please email [email protected] with the following:

- Your address and phone number

- A description of the work needed

- A couple of photos of the area/task

❌TIP SHOP CLOSED❌

The Tip Shop is closed from Friday 24 April to Sunday 26 April, except for the Recycling Centre and for those wishing to drop off items.

The Southern Landfill in Ōwhiro Bay has reopened and is accepting general domestic waste and storm waste drop-offs at its usual rates.

We will remain closed for domestic loads tomorrow as we continue to prioritize the safety of our community and team.
We are taking this extra day to conduct a thorough site inspection. Our goal is to ensure we can return to our usual, safe, and positive environment while being fully prepared to handle the increased waste needs following recent events.

We are officially back at the Tawa Community Centre for our yearly visit on Wednesday, 1st April.

You know the drill. If you’ve been holding onto old electronics, now is the perfect time to give them a second life. We’re hosting an E-Waste Pop-Up Collection to ensure your old tech is recovered, repaired, or shared responsibly instead of ending up just for recycling or in the landfill.
