The Galactic Centre arches overhead as the first glow of light pollution from the Wellington side gently illuminates the silhouettes of the Remutaka Crossing Memorial. A reminder of both the beauty of our night skies and the importance of protecting them.

then just before sunrise got this single frame image of Matariki, M45( Pleiades or Seven Sisters )

Wild. Free. Unmistakably Kaimanawa.
One brief moment of eye contact with one of New Zealand's iconic wild horses—a quiet reminder of the resilience, spirit, and beauty of these remarkable animals. Encounters like this are a privilege I'll never take for granted.

Shaula — bright tail/stinger star
Lesath — companion stinger star near Shaula
Sargas — bright lower Scorpius star
Dschubba — central body star
Acrab — multiple star system
Jabbah — multiple star system
Alniyat — near Antares
Pi Scorpii — upper Scorpion body
Tau Scorpii — hot blue star
Epsilon Scorpii — mid-tail star
Mu Scorpii — binary system

Out shooting Birds at Pauatahanui Inlet with Erin Robson Photos Tuesday 19 May. An early start from the Wairarapa but well worth the effort. Kingfishers were delightful
so were the other bird life
