On March 7 dispatcher and driver Jamie Coote and his partner Rach will be running/walking the Motatapu Miners Trail - a 15km, 900m vert mountain run at Arrowtown. Our aim - to raise enough funds for our wee mate Ava and her family to have a holiday in Australia after a tough year! After winning her school cross country Ava noticed a lump on her leg which was diagnosed as Ewings Sarcoma - a rare, aggressive bone cancer. Late last year she had a partial amputation of her left leg and a rotationplasty - where her ankle has been rotated 180 degrees (so toes point backward) and attached to the thigh bone to allow the ankle joint to act as a hinge for a prosthetic leg. She's still having chemo in Christchurch Hospital and will have to learn to walk again with a prosthetic.

Ava's parents, Tracey and Hayden, are our business partners at Switzers Valley Transport

Jamie and Rach hope to raise enough money so that brave wee Ava can go and visit her best friend, who moved to Melbourne just before she was diagnosed. (Her mum needs a holiday too!). Any donations or sponsorship for the run are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Stock Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
Join Our Team – Stock Manager
Flagstaff Station Holdings is a progressive farming business established in 2023, farming 3,500ha across two diverse properties in Northern Southland. We run 28,000 stock units of sheep, beef, deer, and cereal cropping, with operations split between Flagstaff Station — a stunning high-country farm in Athol — and Tower Ridge, an intensive finishing block near Balfour.

We’re looking for a Stock Manager to join our team at Tower Ridge, following an internal promotion. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you’ll lead day-to-day livestock operations with support from a shepherd and experienced tractor driver.

This is a great opportunity for someone with sound dry stock experience who is passionate about livestock, organized and confident in their skills, and keen to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

Have strong livestock knowledge, proven stockmanship, and a good team of dogs.
Are driven to achieve excellent stock performance and take pride in your work.
Enjoy planning feed budgets, managing pasture, and improving productivity.
Have hands-on skills in fencing, water systems, and general farm maintenance.
Show commitment to regular maintenance and tidiness of your workplace.
Are a clear communicator, organized, reliable, and happy working both independently and with others.
Are fit, enthusiastic, and willing to keep learning and growing.
Ideally be familiar with Resolution with good reporting and record keeping skills.
(Bonus) Have some staff management experience.

What we offer:

A competitive salary package based on your experience and skills.
Warm, comfortable on-farm accommodation (if required).
Modern equipment and well-maintained facilities.
Ongoing training, upskilling, and career progression opportunities.
A supportive team and variety in your work.
A focus on health, safety, and animal welfare.
A stunning location with access to great hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation. Tower Ridge is just 10 minutes from Lumsden, 35 minutes to Gore, and under 90 minutes to both Invercargill and Queenstown, with local school bus routes nearby.

If this sounds like you, please email your CV, a brief cover letter, and at least two work-related references to [email protected].

Applications close 21/09/2025 – we’ll review applications as they come in.
