Congratulations to Pou and Munro on taking the next big steps in your journeys - from training into employment, and from employment into further growth and development.

Your commitment, resilience, and willingness to keep moving forward are something to be proud of. Wishing you both continued success as new opportunities open and your futures keep building stronger.

What an awesome moment today signing up Pokena and Munro to begin their studies through Connexis as they kick off their construction career journey.

Pou and Munro first came to Waiotahi through the Rukuhia Te Mahi Programme, completing their work experience with us — and they absolutely shone. Their attitude, work ethic, and commitment led to full time permanent roles with Waiotahi, and now the next step in their careers begins.

Proud of these two and excited to see where this pathway takes them.

Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe, me he maunga teitei

It is a privilege to witness our past tauira forging their own pathways to success, and to see an increasing number of our tauira shaping ambitious futures for themselves and their communities. Your success becomes a powerful legacy for your tamariki and mokopuna - planting the seeds of aspiration, leadership, and enduring succession for generations to come.

Last week, we proudly acknowledge your achievement in completing the Manaaki Tāngata - Certificate of Bicultural Social Services - Level 4 with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. This is a significant milestone that reflects your commitment, growth, and dedication to your journey.

It is especially meaningful to see you continuing your pathway following your time with us as part of the Navigator Cohort - June 2025. Your continued progression highlights the strength, resilience, and determination you carry forward into new opportunities.

Crystal and Naika - ka mau te wehi kōrua on your achievements with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa!

Kaiawhina Navigator Cohort 5 Program has begun.

This 10-week program designed to create meaningful employment and career pathways for our people by building foundational knowledge within the Health and Social Services and developing their employability skills while drawing on personal life experiences. Trainees are supported to pave a pathway into employment or tertiary education where they best align and contribute positively to the wellbeing of our people and communities.

This course encourages self-reflection while strengthening and enhancing the knowledge participants already hold. A strong focus is placed on understanding personal values and beliefs, recognising the important role these play in growth, development, and professional practice.

Participants are also introduced to the Te Pou Mataaho model of care, which provides guidance in practice and supports a broader understanding of health, wellbeing, and holistic care for our communities.

So far, our tauira have been introduced to one of the four Eastern Bay Iwi Alliance Providers - Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa, gaining insight into the different services available and how each area works collectively toward the same shared vision of supporting the health and wellbeing of our people.

Seeing three of our six tauira hikoi down to Te Mānukatutahi on Friday to receive their tohu, standing proudly amongst many graduates, was such a powerful and inspiring moment. What an incredible achievement!

We even captured a photo with one of our previous pre-trades tauira who also graduated

We are so proud of you all. Ka mau te wehi!

Congratulations to our pre-trades tauira!

Completing this journey takes real courage and perseverance. With the support of your whānau along the way, you’ve not only built your skills to new heights but also grown through self-discovery during this employment training. This is an achievement you should be truly proud of, well done on how far you’ve come!

Ko te oranga o te iwi, hapū, me te hapori, ko tā mātou kaupapa nei.
