Loved this quote from James Clear this morning on Elimination ...
"Elimination solves many problems. For one, you won't have to do the ting you eliminate. And, you free up time, attention and resources to do a better job on what remains. Before trying to be more productive, be more ruthless about what gets cut. What can you eliminate this week?"
Ding - the bell of resonation for me ... ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿช„

Happy 2026!
This morning I was doing a little reading on 'The way of the Warrior' by Angeles Arrien and came across this paragraph, which resonated, given some of the conversations I am party to when it comes to disagreement and tension ...

"Unfortunately the Western mind often believes that the word 'yes' means "I like you and agree with you," and the word 'no' means "I'm rejecting you or disagreeing with you." Most people in the non-Western world however, don't overlay these words with emotional intent. They recognise that 'yes' acknowledges a viewpoint or perspective and does not necessarily mean agreement; and that 'no' simply honours a limit or boundary and indicates the ability to respect what one is willing to do or not do at this point in time."

What do you think about how we honour and respect our personal limits and boundaries as well as the limits and boundaries of others?

Happiness in New Zealand workplaces remained stable in 2025, according to a new report from SEEK NZ, with purpose still the top driver of happiness among employees.

Findings from SEEK's Workplace Happiness Index 2025 show that 65% of Kiwis are somewhat happy or extremely happy at work, higher than the 62% from a year ago.

Purpose remained the biggest driver of workplace happiness, according to the findings, followed by employees' day-to-day role, their manager, and their company culture.

I saw a post on a FB page over the weekend asking, "what do you think has been missing most in society over the last twenty years?" It gave me cause for pause, and what came up for me was patience and listening. Of course there are all the other things we used to have like cheque books, service at the service stations, Christmas cards in the post, phone free conversations at the dinner table and so on ... In this fast-paced world of 'get and do' it's easy to lose sight of the small moment of bliss waiting in line at the supermarket or in traffic to take a moment, or the pleasure of a few minutes to hear someone's story.
What do you think has been missing?

As the facilitator of the Whangarei Business Womens' Network I get to meet some pretty awesome women. This week, our event focused on a Q & A session with Dr Melissa Gilbert on everything pre, post and in-the-middle-of menopause. We've had some talented, knowledgeable and heartfelt speakers this year, and I love how the sharing of stories lifts us all as a community.
I'm deeply grateful for the support of our sponsors; Cheryl from Florist; Sarah from ; Teresa from and Teale from Your Wing Woman: Social Media Marketing and the women of Whangarei who join us every month for an opportunity to have a korero and kai, connect, share and grow community. ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ
I feel blessed and my heart feels full

Thank you Dr Melissa Gilbert for saying 'yes' to delivering a Q & A Session at the Whangarei Business Womens' Network November event. We loved the wisdom and knowledge you shared with us, and I'm sure we all went away with a gem and a 'doing' to add to our daily/weekly self-care routines. ๐Ÿ™โค
Thank you Native Florist and Sarah Marshall Photography

Wow! I remember being moved 12 years ago when I heard Jill Bolte-Taylor's TED Talk ('My stroke of insight'), so much so that I read her book. I'm delighted to have found her recent interview with Steven Bartlett which covers her experience and recovery as well as sharing insights on the brain and how we 'do us'.
I'm not yet finished, and, the instalment this morning where I listened to talking about the four characters of the brain was easy to understand and for me, a great foundation for developing emotional intelligence.
PS: Don't be put of by the attention-seeking headline ... there's some good stuff in the conversation ... ๐Ÿ˜†

What are you taking notice of today?
See my post below from the Whangarei Business Womens' Network FB page ...

One thing I've learned about my own mental health is how important it is to tune into the whispers, glimmers and inklings inside me. It's these quiet stirrings calling, giving me cause for paws (or pause). I prefer paws ๐Ÿพ Have you ever played with the underside of the paws ๐Ÿพ of a cat ๐Ÿˆ or dog ๐Ÿ•??
You know, that's all about taking notice of the little things ...
What brings you joy? A smoochy purring cat? A dog tummy-side up? Your garden? The aroma of your specially brewed coffee? The feel of your slippers on your feet? Giving your time to volunteering? Watching your children and/or grandchildren play?
Oh so many things ... we'd love to know what you take notice of in your daily doings causing the corners of your mouth to lift a little ...

It's mental health awareness week and rather than attempt to get Chat GPT to provide a drawing for how my day is REALLY going today, I thought I'd put my creative juices to the test on a piece of paper with my lovely aromatic felt-tip pens. And no, I don't have coloured nostrils this morning! LOL!! I felt like a kid at school with a wee project to do. So - here is how my day is REALLY going and "this is my picture"! ๐Ÿ˜
