Day Zero - Project Definition.
So anyone can follow along with my prompts (not everyone has a subscription to ChatGPT4) I opted to use Bing for the project definition. It has a built-in AI chatbot that is a version of the same technology that's behind ChatGPT-4, but also has internet access (which GPT-4 only has with a subscription). It also has three conversation styles - "More Creative", "More Balanced", and "More Precise". I selected more creative, because ... why not!
Observations from Day Zero:
Bing's AI seems to understand the District Planning process better than I expected. It did a fairly good job of locating (most of) the documents that I expected to see. Maybe it's the abundance of RMA jargon that permeates every corner of our profession, but it totally embraced acronyms!
I found the "More Creative" conversation style to be a bit blasé when it comes to completing tasks without cutting corners. When I suggested there were some important documents it missed, it seemed to care way less than it should!
Other limitations are the 30 prompt limit before it gets amnesia. That's probably not going to work for a project this size. Then there's the three 'personality' styles to choose from ... I won't spoil tomorrow's post, but let's just say my relationship with Creative Bing began to deteriorate as we moved into our second day together ..!
It's a bit of a long read (I don't expect you to read it all), but I have shared my conversation and prompts verbatim so you can see how these conversations unfold. BUT, do jump to the end for an interesting take on what the gaps might be within the current suite of National Planning Instruments.
