A number of folk thought there wasn’t much to putting in a roundabout, but there really is. It is a big job taking a road that is concave and building it up to have a convex Roundabout. For those who are interested….

Supporting Our Communities Through Professional Expertise.

At Planners Plus Limited, we believe that strong communities are built through partnership, collaboration, and giving back. Planners Plus Limited identifies projects that benefit the community.

We are proud to have supported the Whangamatā Community Marae Trust by preparing and managing their resource consent application for the Whangamatā Community Marae and Wellbeing Hub. This includes the

- Community Marae;

- Eastern Coromandel Community Services Trust (offices and client meeting spaces);

- Whangamatā Arts Collective (studio, workshop, and exhibition space);

- MenzShed Whangamatā (workshop and meeting space); Whangamatā Resource Recovery Trust (processing workshop and small-scale retail store); and

- The Whangamatā Lions Club (storage space).

This project represented a significant investment of our time and expertise, with our team contributing considerable hours of professional planning services at no cost to the applicant.

This equates to a contribution of over $13,500 (GST Inclusive) in professional services donated to support this important community initiative.

Community organisations often face significant costs when navigating planning and consenting processes. By donating our expertise, we aim to help remove some of those barriers, allowing organisations like the Whangamatā Community Marae Trust to focus their resources where they are needed most.

We are honoured to have played a part in helping bring this project forward and look forward to continuing to support community projects that create lasting benefits for our local communities.

🎉 Welcome Back & Congratulations, Anneka Sprangers! 🎓

The team at Planners Plus Limited is thrilled to welcome back our extraordinary team member, Anneka Sprangers — and to congratulate her on a major achievement!

Anneka officially became our newest qualified planner after graduating on October 14th with a Bachelor of Environmental Planning from the University of Waikato.

During her studies, Anneka focused on resource management, sustainable development, policy, and human geography. Her academic excellence and dedication shone through with numerous accomplishments, including:

🏅 Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence (twice!)
📈 A consistently high A/A+ grade average
🌍 An international exchange to Cardiff University in Wales
🥈 Runner-up for the 2024 Reginald Hammond Scholarship from the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI)
🌟 Became a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society (awarded to students in the top 15% of their chosen discipline)

Anneka first joined Planners Plus as an intern in 2023, and in 2024 completed her final semester abroad before taking a well-deserved travel break. We were thrilled to welcome her back to the office this month — and just in time to celebrate her graduation!

Exciting News for Anneka Sprangers!

We are thrilled to announce that our exceptional student planner, Anneka Sprangers, has embarked on a new adventure! For her final semester of study, Anneka has seized the opportunity to participate in a student exchange at Cardiff University in Wales. This exciting journey is made possible through the prestigious Taith Funding, a Welsh government initiative supporting students who are undertaking international academic experiences.

Anneka will be at Cardiff University from September 2024 to January 2025, where she will immerse herself in a range of interesting subjects:

Planning Theory
Practice, Sustainable Transport
Mobilities: Travel, Tourism, and Communication

While we will certainly miss Anneka’s presence in the office, we are eagerly looking forward to her return and hearing about her enriching experiences. We wish her all the best in this new chapter of her academic and personal journey.
