The PDCA cycle is at the heart of all ISO standards, including ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety and other ISO management system standards. The PDCA cycle is summarized as follow:
1. Plan: Recognize an opportunity and plan a change.
2. Do: implement and Test the change.
3. Check: Review the test and analyze the results.
4. Act: Take action based on what was the result from analyzing. If the change did not work, go through the cycle again with a different plan. If is successful, incorporate what was learned from the test into wider changes. Use what was learned to plan new improvements, beginning the cycle again.
