After five years of exploring Panama City’s hidden food gems, I’m finally sharing the places I return to again and again. These are the shops that have saved me hundreds of dollars while filling my kitchen with ingredients truly worth cooking with. Places locals quietly recommend, but many visitors and expats never discover. I’ve shared these places to close friends from time to time, but now I am sharing it with our community!
What to expect:
– Imagine buying fresh produce from the same farmers market/wholesaler that supplies many of the city’s smaller vendors, without wondering if you’re paying “gringo prices”. Just fresh products, fair prices, and insider knowledge.
– Discover your favorite loose-leaf teas - traditional and even medicinal teas, hard-to-find curry pastes, miso, and delicious Chinese groceries :D
– Then explore a well-stocked importer featuring imported frozen meats (think fabulous cuts, lamb and Mediterranean salami), locally curated delicious hams and cheeses, beautiful quality pastas, quality olive oils in small or larger quantities, flavor-packed spice rubs, frozen seafood and vegetables, bulk buys, and so much more!

On this exclusively designed PanX-group experience (max 20 per trip), we’ll visit three carefully chosen shopping gems, sharing insider tips on what to buy, what to skip, and how to get the best value. I’ll share everything I’ve learned along the way! We’ll finish at Multiplaza, making it easy to catch an Uber or bus home with your shopping treasures.

Bring
– 🛍️ Shopping bags and, if possible, an insulated bag (Organica/Riba sells them) for frozen items.
– Avoid coolers that require lots of space as it might end up on your lap.
Remember – Think of this as your scouting trip. Once you know where everything is, you can come back whenever you like and stock up like a local, load it in your car or the trunk of an uber and boom! Shopping like a local 😉
