Two days ago, I had the honor to virtually serve as a guest speaker for a Black History Month Career Speaking event for Goose Creek School District in Baytown, Texas!
Which actually got me feeling all sorts of emotions, but most importantly it reminded me of how what may seem like the smallest of actions could bring more impact than you might know. Just showing up as yourself can be enough. ✨

So thankful for two of my friends from college, Caroline Rae Green and Genie Deez, who generously spent their afternoon serving on our Black Professionals Panel for our Black History Month celebration at Stuart.
Caroline earned her Bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame and her Associate’s degree from the Culinary Institute of America. After serving as a kitchen manager in Napa Valley, she took a bold leap and built her own Virtual Assistant business, Dale Chica Dale. Her journey is such a powerful example of pivoting with purpose and creating your own lane.
Genie double majored in Film & TV Studies and Marketing at Notre Dame before completing his M.F.A. at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He now works as a director and producer, and his new animated show, Phoebe & Jay, just premiered on PBS to rave reviews!
Because of them, our students, particularly our film and culinary students, didn’t just hear about success; they saw it. They saw talented, accomplished Black professionals thriving in the very industries they dream of entering. They were reminded that they belong in those spaces and that there is no limit to what they can achieve.
