Even though Covid restrictions have been scaled down, our country is still weary of the dangers of the virus and in particular the mutated Delta variant that is considered to be more deadly. Nevertheless, PNG is surely free from Covid19 and still is today.

Father of the Nation Papua New Guinea passes on: 1936-2021
Papua New Guinea is said to have received her Independence in September 16 1975 on a "golden plate" and Sir Michael Thomas Somare now referred to as Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare was the man behind the movement and become the first indigenous Prime Minister and went straight to work.
When asked by European Colonizers how he intends to run his country given the lack of Engineers, Doctors, Teachers, Nurses, Economist, Accountants and Lawyers, the Grand Chief replied by pointing to the young ladies who attended the ceremony that " yu lukim ol displa meri ya, em ol bai bai karim ol Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Economists, Accountants, Teachers and Nurses blo mi long ronim country blo mi"
(English translataions: "you see those young ladies over there, they will conceive the Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Economists, Accountants, Teachers and Nurses to run the affairs of this country")

Indeed, 47 years on and PNG keeps sailing and indeed PNG.

Thank you Grand Chief....we will surely be indebted to your stand and wisdom.
