Happy belated new year 2022 everyone. It’s a new year so let’s talk about something productive. Something that can contribute towards development at our WARDS, LLGs, DISTRICTS, PROVINCE and COUNTRY.
Every developmental plans comes with accurate information or data we have on hand to support our basis for development; that is services that we want from the government and other developmental partners.
One of the very important information that we have forgotten to update is the POPULATION DATA. In West New Britain Province and elsewhere in the country this information is outdated since the last National Census in 2000. Our population have tripled or may have quadrupled.
Our country is divided into PROVINCES which are further divided into LOCAL LEVEL GOVERNMENTS (LLGs) which are further subdivided into WARDS or CONSTITUENCIES. The systems of government are in place already. We just have to make them OPERATIONAL. By saying that we have to start PLANNING and UTILISING our resources to update our FUNDAMENTAL INFORMATION DATABASES.
Some provinces have split into new provinces. Some provinces have gained new electorates or districts. Some districts have gained new LLGs. Some LLGS have gained new wards. These new wards have new PEOPLE living there. People have encroached onto new lands and have formed new settlements. YOU SEE WE HAVEN’T UPDATE ALL THESE INFORMATION.
All information regarding population, schools, hospitals, aidposts, roads, villages, settlements, bridges, rivers, mountains, and so forth can be updated and presented on a MAP as simple as one page. When we have all this updated information available, we can then back our cries or demand for more services to be provided.
Make funding available for information to be collected at ward levels. Each WARD will contribute to a LLG, which contributes to a DISTRICT which contributes to a PROVINCE which contributes to a COUNTRY (PNG).
